When you talked about the wrench and how you shouldn't clip a biner into the top of the tether for system tending. I don't see how it's possible in a slip of ascenders or a drop would cause that to disengage the wrench. the isc manual for the wrench says that it's okay to do it, also in my experience that would engage the wrench and bite the rope with the hitch following suit.

Hi Scottie, clipping to the wrench or the connecting point (eye) will mean that the climber loads the wrench and not the hitch, this will mean that the wrench becomes the primary support, which it can never be, and may cause the hitch to potentially not set. For me this is moot anyway as I find clipping to the hitch climber a much more comfortable chest harness position. Thanks!
