@@dwaynewladyka577 Rory's death has always been shrouded in mystery, he got a liver transplant but I don't think it worked, he was a brilliant virtuoso player, probably better than Clapton or Hendrix. His brother defends accusations about his drinking, Rory liked the Guinness , his band including Lou was brilliant . Check out first album. Thanks for message. Good luck to you.

Back in the day as a budding guitar player, I’d put on Calling Card, sling my (Kay) Strat on, and do my very best to keep up with Rory and band - easier said than done! Great to stumble across this clip (sure to have watched it on TV at the time) and I’ll be doing exactly the same again, only this time with my own relatively vintage sunburst Strat. Seeing Rory with his helped me fall for the Strat - great here on a Tele too, of course. As for Gerry Mc Avoy on that P bass - another wow - whole band really.

I Absolutely love ❤️ Rorys slide guitar, he hits every note , even with that heavy steel slide stuck on his finger. I tried to play slide once , all I got was twangs . It's really hard to play. Rory was a true master and independent . 👌💚

At last this BBC concert is released, I saw it at the time ( on black and white TV 1976) never saw it again till Rory died and some BBC fan must of pulled strings to show the full concert . I managed to record it on a VHS tape , Wonderful!! Donal if you are reading this .. why so long after all the other footage (rock palast etc) hs been around so long.?

Great sound by the BBC as always but I used to dislike the way they superimposed two graphics of any artist playing so you could not see how they played. Lou Martin’s solo here being one example.
