I think there’s a reason Foden has been bad, though. He and Jude are making each other bad. Get rid of one (I’d say Jude) stick the other at 10 and you can always sub them on if needed.

So breaking them down will be frustrating to watch. England will be knockout in the quaters by either Switerzland or Italy. Ur juvenille logic is that one player will make a difference. So lets follow that logic: 1. wharton is not only great deep playing midfield but press resistant (he have to be becuz Rice isnt). 2. Also u need runners to make that change useful so u bench saka, kane and foden/bellingham for watkins, gordon and palmer. 3..Luke Shaw comes back and is great to help overload on left and create chances. This logic requires not one change but at least 4-5 changes. Which team in tournament football have done so many changes and imorove their team. NONE. England is team with limited players and even a more limited tactical manager. It is great when that tactic and players it NEED to suceed aligns but it dont in this case. This is main reason for the inbalance in the team.The Switerzland now is who u guys were in 2021. I know they r going to beat u like how u beat Germany in Euros 2021

One day - like teams such as Georgia and Slovakia have - England will realise football is a team sport. I can see us repeating the mistake of including star players because of who they are rather than whether they work for the team or system. The 'best' players are only the best if they are playing in the right positions, e. g. Foden as wing back simply isn't gonna be the Foden for City. Remember Scholes on the Wing? Didn't work did it. So the manager needs to be brave here. Not only that, it's not what people wanna hear but the public have to be forgiving if he leaves out stars to benefit the team.

I'd go further than that, Rory. Bellingham, Kane and Foden doesn't work. Bellingham, in the first game, had the same average position as Kane. In the next two games, Bellingham's average position was too similar to Foden's. I'd play Gordon on the left and drop either Foden or Bellingham behind Kane or Watkins. I wouldn't mind giving Saka a rest and starting Cole, too. Regardless, if we don't up our game we will crash out. If we don't lose to Slovakia then we will certainly lose to Switzerland or Austria.

I don't get the point of playing players in new positions they didnt play at their club? Players most of them must play in the same position as their club where they finished they season at top but 1 or 2 players can play on new position in order to get best of the otehr players. So the question is where does Foden, Bellingham and Saka played at their club in which they shined? Saka played the the last two season as right winger in which he became top player but Foden and Bellingham played almost the same position in their clubs. Then play Saka on his best position and either Foden or Bellingham as number 10 then one of them as midfielder number 8 which will make Bellingham the only to play as number 8. This will give both Saka and Foden to play at their best position and Bellingham still as midfield who can make run to the box. If Saka not performing well use Palmer because he played at the same position as Saka and left wing will be either Gordon or Eze who played at the same position in their clubs.

Palmer is a true flair player, the type England haven't had since Gazza. Foden is capable of it, but Palmers doing it. Saka is decent, but his game is dribbling and cutting in, and making good runs, which is redundant in this England team because we don't play risky passes.

Just say you don't like Saka. The problem is the system. At Arsenal, Saka and Martinelli stretch the wings. Odegaard (the number 10) plays close to Saka. Foden should play that role as well. Play Gordon on the left and Saka on the right. Pair Bellingham and Rice.

Saka has been just ok or average. In a team where 10 players are bad Saka has still been the 2nd best after guehi. Saka has kept the ball well, created a few chances. Defended somewhat.
