In the final round of the 2022 RBC Canadian Open, Rory McIlroy shot an 8-under 62 to get to 19-under par and win his 21st PGA TOUR title by two shots.

Rory McIlroy will look to defend his title this weekend, as the PGA TOUR returns to St George’s Golf and Country Club for the RBC Canadian Open. The course last hosted the tournament in 2010 when Carl Pettersson was victorious. Three years ago, Northern Irishman McIlroy beat the course record to claim victory finishing seven shots clear of second place. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will be looking for a fifth victory this year, having narrowly missed out on another first place finish last weekend in a tense playoff with Sam Burns at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Other notable players teeing up include 2022 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas, THE PLAYERS Championship winner Cameron Smith as well as Tony Finau, Justin Rose and Tyrell Hatton.

I've played at St George's multiple times, It is not an easy course by any stretch, in fact it is one of the more difficult courses in Canada. It is far harder than glen abbey (default Canadian open course) These guys are on another level. I remember many members were saying they didn't think any pros could reach number 15 in 2 because it has a small green that is hard to hold and it is a 570 yard uphill hole that plays more like 640 or so. This year multiple guys made it 2. It is pretty unreal how good these PGA tour pros are and they get better every year.

I have enjoyed watching golf for years but the LIV format is more enjoyable and entertaining than watching a couple of golfers with a few cut aways. All of the coverage is over in 18 holes.

Those players want the pga tour to be like the nba, players with guaranteed contracts that don’t have to play to get paid (ie kyrie, Simmons) no heart given in LIV just a bunch of no names trying to make a name by actually trying and a bunch of hasbeens who don’t need to try anymore because they already got their blood money all for a shiny trophy that means nothing.

I started watching golf in 2011. The 2nd major was Rory's 8 shot win at the US Open. That week he hit so many wedges that settled to 3 feet. I remember thinking that dude is unstoppable. Then, the next 11 years I never saw his wedges look like that again - or even Tour average. We all know the story. Then today happened and he must have gained 4 shots on the field JUST on SG:approach. Glorious. If he found this 2011 wedge game then bye bye field. Look how well JT played today and there was nothing he could do.

In the modern era, if every player brought their absolute A game to 18 holes, Woods comes first and Rory finishes a close second IMO. Watched almost every shot last night and enjoyed every minute. Justin Rose with a 60, Tony Finau grinding, and JT pushing all the way. Brilliant closing rounds and the PGA Tour has nothing to worry about.
