hi Rory...so when is the best time of the year to travel up to Darwin on The Ghan..?? as I'm watching this I'm thinking that a rail trip for next year would be nice..unfortunately a platinum class cabin is way out of my price range..do you know what class is the cheapest for a solo traveller..?? as I'm on a pension I know I can get free rail travel within Victoria but as this rail company is a private company I doubt they have concession prices..I've never been to Darwin, let alone the Northern Territory..would be nice to mark off my non-existent bucket list, chuckle.. on my travels around the US I had gaitor whilst in Florida...they marinade it in orange soda...very nice...
@lancelotyu16382 жыл бұрын
@@grandmasmagic3858 gold class solo cabin is the cheapest $2165. there is no concession as it is not a subsidised service. the best time to go to darwin is during the dry season (May - Oct) however towards the end is high humidity. good luck!

Fabulous! I have always wanted to see Australia, but it is unlikely I will ever be able to because of my age. However, this video gave me a wonderful sense of what it’s like. I so appreciate all of the background information on the railroad’s history. And, thanks for explaining what the name Ghan means; I had no idea about the history of Afghan people on camels in Australia! Your description of the food had my mouth watering! I am Subscribing! Thank you for taking me along with you on this fabulous train trip.

Roy, I am stunned. Firstly, the length. I thought it was only about 40 mins, but no, it's double that, and most importantly, unlike some youtube vids on travel which is long just because they show the view out of the window for an hour of the trip, every single second was an actual video. Definitely worth the wait, but still, can't believe your dedication to youtube, $7000 is a lot of money, Keep up the beyond excellent work!

What an incredible journey! It's astounding to think that one train trip can take you through diverse landscapes and climates. The Ghan is truly a testament to the resilience and innovation of human engineering. How has the railway influenced the stops and the communities along the way? It's remarkable to think that this luxurious experience is a product of the interplay between nature and human progress.

It's a curse ship on wheels. Which is a shame because it makes it too expensive for anyone who isn't a cashed up tourist. It's a shame Journey Beyond Rail owns, the Gan, Indian Pacific and the Overland because before they were privatised they were a regular trains that was actually affordable. At least the long distance Queensland trains and the XPT service haven't met the same fate & remain a service that people can actually afford to use.

@@RoryDing I did! It was really well paced in the sense that it was quite relaxing and let me as the viewer just enjoy all the aspects of this journey. Cheers mate.

This was a great train video experience, leaving nothing out. All too often, the presenters of train trip videos focus more on the sites visited and less on the train experience. Rory Ding provides both in equal measure, and it was appreciated.

As a lot of your viewers have said I am among the many that would never be able to afford a trip like this. I enjoyed your trip though so neat to be able to watch your journeys!

I loved this video, thank you so much for sharing your journey. I have a disability and use a walker, I would love to do a journey like this but judging from the walkways etc. I don’t think it will be ever possible. I felt like I was on the journey with you and I thank you for your excellent commentary and your beautiful camera footage.

Excellent sunrise shots. Good mix of train history, geography and tour options in your narration. Thank you.

Beautifully done. Very expensive though but I do agree it is an experience. I reckon you were the youngest person on the train :-)

A fantastic upload/documentary that was so captivating, it passed without realizing it was one and a half hrs long! what an outstanding achievement Rory.

Absolutely first class, your research is impeccable. I would love to do this trip one day soon. Particularly heading towards Darwin the last 800km with the tropical country.
