Zappa's aim was not to subjugate his audience to his own vision of the contemporary world, but to get them to think and judge for themselves, to question themselves. He used all the influences that opened him up to the world, to be unique and still be today far ahead of his time .

That quote, and this variation, both from Mr. Zappa: "Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible."

Oh Interesting documentary Zappa always surprises. He was an unconventional musician, he mixed several different styles of music merging different melodies creating an unusual music style very different from that period of time. He was very ahead of his time as it was said before. My father is a true fan of him and loves all his music and he has several records of him from the 70's. It was pleasant to see this, thanks for this video Rory🤗👍👌🎸🎹🚬☮

Above all else, Frank was first and foremost a composer. After his tragic push from the stage in London that ended his Flo & Eddie-era Mothers tour, he immediately went back to work, composing the music for and recording two of his most interesting "jazz" albums, the big band (20-piece) Grand Wazoo and the smaller combo Waka/Jawaka. 9 months to the day after being pushed from the stage and while still in the wheelchair, he mounted the brief but important Grand Wazoo tour and just a couple of months later, pared that orchestra down to 10 pieces and went on a longer tour with all new music for that band. Picture any other "pop star" in 1972, convalescing in a wheelchair for the better part of a year. How many of them would be taking fistfuls of painkillers and staring off into space? Not Frank. Right back to work, composing, recording two albums and touring.

Hey Rory! I too was watching some vids on Frank today also! I,ll have to review my vid history to links for you on different musicians and others who dug into what made Frank tick. I was thrilled to get more insight on him! If you want just get back to me if IF your really a fan of him! I think the reason I hated bubble gum or pop music, was because I just didn’t like repetition! I’m sure your the same way on this pop music crap! Anyways, love the bit today and take care mate!!😊
