Great Rory! Amira started BMus this week, which is the Advanced Bachelor of Music (3 years). The two specialties she chose are classical singing and orchestral conducting. In the third year she will also study the specialty of music psychology. She's very happy. In the first week there was already a musical competition between the fraternities and her team won two awards.

A nice reaction to this Amira's medley ! In her first performance, she was only 8, in november 2012. And yes, I think too that she was born to sing, being very gifted, very versatile, very intuitive when hiting the highest notes (as she said in an interview at 13 y.o.), and remaining always loyal to her vocal instrument. She loves obviously singing, and since her very beginnings had a special affection for the great opera arias and for Maria Callas and Mimi Coertse. I'm not a voice teacher at all, but I believe that Amira Willighagen has still a great room for improvement, not only in the operatic field. She gave us some good news about her beginnings at the university of Pretoria, in any case she seems very excited (including about her first car !) and happy. This is definitely the most important point.

Worth remembering Rory that at the age of about ten Amira was invited to a UNICEF gala in Switzerland and sang an impromptu song with Alma Deutscher who was a year younger. Alma too was motivated to play and compose classical music. They repeated this song a year later in England and I think they agreed to make the World more appreciative of the classical style because they both saw nothing spiritually upbuilding in "modern music".

I beleave she was 6 years old in the first clip! It is pre winning HGT when she was 9.

All of these clips are taken from YT videos, available for watching in full. The first one, she was with he whole family, she sang a couple of songs, though she was a little rough, being so young. She didn't get any coaching till after her appearance on HGT . Think the third one is Ave Maria Gomez, which I don't think you have reviewed. It is stunning though. Another one where she is backed by her family.
