Whoever created this video made a lot of unfounded assumptions. Queen never discussed lyrics between themselves. Freddie warned about not reading too much into his lyrics, that they are kept deliberately general. This is one reason why Queen's music has universal appeal.

take anything Brian says with a pinch of salt! DSMN was 78 he had left David minns and was with Joe Fanelli when he wrote this song I think it was a jibe at David. he wasn't promiscuous at this time and there was no concern over him only that it might effect the band! Brian said he had a go at Freddie that some of his songs including DSMN were on the gay side he said this song was separatism Brian has also said several times he was upset Freddie wouldn't allow him to put more guitar on it ! Brian said a few years ago he didn't like DSMN because Freddie was being flippant about AIDS!? in 1978!?

it's claimed he wrote love of my life for Mary but probably about the entire situation he was already with David Minns for 2 months who told him to tell Mary or he was leaving him he had left mary when this was released he was with Mary 6 years she went on a couple of dates with Brian but Freddie liked her and asked if they were dating and Brian said they were just friends really
