I was lucky to see Rory live at The Palais in Melbourne, Australia on the "Top Priority" tour in the early 80's. Just unbelievable. He turned my head around after seeing him on "The Old Grey Whistle Test". Went out and bought every album I could and still a fan to this day. I wish more people would also talk about his amazing voice. Incredible singer!

I agree 100% : amazing voice even when it changed with time! Lyrics are extraordinary too and guitar playing ...of course never challenged!

Local radio stations here never played Rory back then. We have classic rock stations now and they STILL dont play him here. Wtf?
@GWard-hz5wj4 жыл бұрын
Rory didn't get airplay because he stood up to the music industry. He owned his music's copy & distribution rights himself. It comes down to- He wasn't making money for them. He had been in the business since age 15, formed "Taste"& was a #1 blues band in Europe before he was 20! He refused to break his albums down to singles & promoted his own tours. He learned quickly & refused to conform. Back then radio was the medium that promoted most bands. Those of us who were lucky enough, caught him on tour when he came to US. Now with internet a lot of new fans are taking notice of his genius & unbelievable music!

Of course it was always about Rory's magical playing. But I loved the involvement from Lou Martin. His keyboards gave it that little bit extra something. This was my favourite line up.

You can really hear and see what a great drummer Rod was, and perfect for Rory's music. Fantastic stuff.

Let's just say it lads this was a fuckin great Rory Gallagher band line up. He never played this song after d'atth left, unfortunate because it was one of the bands best tracks.

Yep I agree.. That was Rory and the band at their peak.. Lou Martin added something special too

Just wonderful to see this.I loved Rory's first solo band with Gerry on bass and Wilgar Campbell on drums but this four piece had to be his greatest.What Lou Martin brought to the sound just moved everything up a gear or two.Thanks Gerry,Lou,Rod and of course,Rory.You fellers were the best.

Still barred out of that drumming forum. So will have to post another one here. Rod De'ath on the drums this time, with Rory Gallagher. Interesting to note a left handed player on a right handed kit but leading with his left hand. This gives his fills a similar character to those of another famous left handed drummer who plays on a right handed drum set, Ringo Starr.

Steve Upton of Wishbone Ash similar style if I remember. Not too common but sounds excellent.
