Yes the purple guy is called a Nazareno it’s very traditional during holly week Semana Santa Cofradías, they carry the holly images, Christ or virgin Marie to the streets kind of like a Religious parade. In this Video is the first one of The Mal Querer Album yes it’s set up everything is that feeling off you are in something bad you want out, but you are full of fear and it’s to late. There is bunch symbols like it’s the abusive guys chasing her, also machismo bunch of men’s carry her on a forklift and then the bull fighter and Rosalia in the motorcycle in this case she is the bull... Now watch Pienso en tu Mira, aquí no sales and then react to Bagdad and will start making sense.

This song is the first one of her conceptual album “ El Mar querer” each song in this album has 2 titles the second one always referring to the chapter in the storyline in the Album, this first track it’s obviously “ Malamente “ but it’s second title it’s “ Augurio” ( Bad Omen ) and it sets the pace of the whole story based on a 700 years old book called “ Flamenca “ where a young girl it’s forced to marry a really abusive and jealous guy that makes her life miserable , in fact. “ De aquí no sales “ chapter 4 ( second title Disputa/Fight ) is sung through the male perspective , the last images are from a penitente or Nazareno from the Semana Santa / Holy Week in southern Spain , nothing to do with KKK , since it’s Bering going on fir hundred of years even before the USA was a country , totally cultural appropriation in the worst way possible

The song is about a woman who sees signs that the guy who she is dating is no good for her but lets herself be wooed by him anyway. In the video women are symbolised by the bull and the men are the matador. The act of bullfighting is the courtship. The boys are being taught how to manipulate women into going out with them hence the tattooed virgin's tears as history repeats. The woman is chased relentlessly by a man until caught (by the car which I think represents material things like jewellery, presents etc ). Her body is then placed in a truck by several guys with other women, an allegory as to how these men see women as disposable (in bullfighting the bull's dead body is put into a refrigerated truck this way too). My favourite is the scenes with the bikes, it's just art! Here she comes in independent and defiant, her gaze not meeting his. After a couple of passes her gaze meets his with a look of kove while he just looks determined never loosing sight ofhis prey. In the last bike scene he's holding the sword used to kill the bull behind his back just when she's dropped her guard the most showing that he's going for the kill. But our Rosalía is defiant as in one of the dance scenes she says 'tomá' while holding a fist and bent arm then thrusts her hips. This is as if to say 'F U'. The lyrics were important too 'Ese cristalito roto Yo sentí como crujía Antes de caerse al suelo Ya sabía que se rompía'. Basically she knew what would happen before it did. To continue I suggest watching her live version at Lolapallooza of Que No Salga la Luna which is the next song in her story.

The new continent is that, new... there are a lot of old traditions and symbols that had been misused in the states mainly. But there are other examples like the swastika in Germany. The purple guy and in general the pointy hat with a robe is used in many religions and cultures ;)

There are many, many Rosalía reaction videos available these days, but yours are probably my favourites! I think having a Spanish and a non-Spanish speaker together is the ideal combination for a first watch/listen, because we can see how you are both equally affected by her work but are perhaps focusing on different elements of her art. As a non-Spanish speaker myself, I would have loved to have had a Hispanic person next to me when I first listened to Rosalía, just to ask a few questions to and to reflect on her music with. I also highly recommend Rosalía’s collaboration with James Blake, I really think it’s her best, and sadly most underrated, collaborative track. I wish I could recommend some other artists to you that have work as polished as Rosalía’s, but the reality is that there’s no one quite like her. Perhaps you might find Sevdaliza (an Iranian-Dutch singer, she has some really great videos from her latest album) and M.I.A. (a UK-born, Sri Lankan-heritage rapper/singer) both interesting.

I love Rosalia! Definitely should react to Aunque De Noche. Rosalia’s version will grab your stomach and put it in your throat! In a good way!😂 The song is a poem written by a monk San Juan De La Cruz I believe I. The 15th Century when he was imprisoned for being a spiritualist. The song sounds dark, but really it is talking about his faith and how it has no beginning or end. Anyway I hope you all react to it and enjoy it. It is one of her older songs. Not part of this album.

What you call KKK here for centuries has been known as NAZARENOS. The Nazarenes are the brothers of a brotherhood who do the penance station in Spanish Holy Week (and in some Latin American countries such as Colombia) with the clothing that appears in the rules of the brotherhood. Although the most common is to use the term Nazarenes, in Galicia they are known as capuchones, in León they are known as papons, in Cádiz as penitents, in Monóvar as capuchos, in Alicante and Valladolid as capuchins, in Pamplona as youngsters, in Tudela as carrapuchetas and in Zamora as hooded men. Name's origin The name "Nazarene" is given to them because it is the name of the town of Galilee where Jesus spent most of his life, according to the canon of the Bible. Although Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Judea, and spent a brief childhood time in Egypt, he very soon settled with his father Joseph and his mother Mary his in the small town of Nazareth. According to Christian tradition, he lived in Nazareth working in the carpentry of his stepfather until he began as a traveling preacher at the age of thirty. We must also differentiate the Nazarene (with small letters) from the Nazarene (with capital letters). The first is the brother and the second is the nickname that is given to the figures of Jesus who are with the cross on their shoulders.1 The nickname Christ It is usually reserved for figures showing Jesus crucified or dead. Clothing and other attributes Since the sixteenth century there were processions of brothers who position accompanying the steps. These carried insignia similar to the current ones: banners, scripts and banners. At the waist they can wear a girdle or a esparto girdle. At first they carried wax candles or torches to light the way. After the urban lighting in the 19th century, this has been maintained by custom in some brotherhoods. In the new testament The clothing of Jesus of Nazareth receives a lot of attention in the Gospels and, normally, it is associated with a mantle or a tunic that, during the mockery of the Romans, is placed in purple (color associated with royalty) and before and after it is of a color not mentioned.
