Hi guys, today we are taking a look at the French model 1886 Epee bayonet for the Lebel rifle. Quite a cool history, I hope you enjoy. Any feedback or errors please feel free to comment and let me know.

That's a beautiful yet terrifying weapon.

Enjoyed the video, gonna have to give this a shoutout when I do my Berthier 1907/15 demo in the near future 👍🏻 I always talk a but about the bayonet when doing a rifle demo (if I have one) but you definitely go into a lot more detail on that aspect. You’ve a lot of good info here, I can definitely see your channel growing a lot as you move forward and I shall be watching many more of your videos in the future.

Thanks mate, I started because there isn't nearly as much info out there for bayonets as rifles. Hopefully I can make some of the information more accessible for the next guy looking for it

@@pointynotsharp8436 Upon re-watching this video, I am getting a cut down model with a cast iron handle as well! I have an early model presently. And your pronunciation of seitengewehr is actually pretty darn close, but the s is pronounced as a z

@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry there is some bloke down here selling stacks of repro cut down iron handles, be careful, they're out there

@@pointynotsharp8436 I will keep an eye out but this one does appear legit, and the particular guy on eBay selling it does have a good reputation. Once it arrives I’ll post a picture of it to my Instagram and tag you so you can see it

Great video, glad I found it. I have a Épée-Baïonnette Modèle 1886. The blade was made in Châtellerault before 1915. I have read that cleaning off the grit and grime of 100 years, lowers the value. Is this true?

Hey would you happen to know what it means if my Rosalie has ZERO markings? the grip is still silver, but no markings whatsoever

Mine is the same. The only marking is on the front face of the blade and it says L B both circled

What bayonets were used by the French during the French Indochina war??

From memory, they primarily used MAS49 and some of the older bolt action rifles. All took the MAS36 style of reversible spike bayonet. I haven't done a video on them yet but I plan too
