As someone that followed Angelina in the years before this performance, I can't even put into words how special it was to witness that moment in her career. She had said since she was 3 years old that she would sing for Simon some day. When word got out in Oct 2019, that she would be on AGT in January, there were many fans speculating what song she might sing, but it was a closely guarded secret. The anticipation was high for months, and then on that night in January 2020, Angelina stepped out on that stage in front of Simon and did...that! There were many fans with teary eyes that night. BTW: It's Angelina's "Angels" also BTW... I know I commented this in the bio on the last video, but since you mentioned her bare feet, I will share it again for those that missed it.... *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.

When she was 7 and ready to start off her life, the girl at Norway's Got Talent asked if she was ready. She said yes, almost like , yeah get out of my way my future calls. She was never nervous. She was 7 and had learned entire songs, several of them. They were old-time jazz songs and standards. It is not congruous with people of today,. They do not know those songs and would not like them if they heard them.

You see a 13 year old coming on stage, barefoot (see the story below), wearing the suit she made herself with a print from her grandmothers art and she starts singing the arrangement she made herself. As soon as she starts singing she captivates the jury and audience and doesn’t let them go until she is ready with them leading to immense release and wave of emotion at the end from the audience. She has an incredible talent of story telling and conveying emotions: she makes me hear and feel the story. Apart from an inspiring person, she is also a very kind, modest and caring person. She goes barefoot because at the age of 6 she gave away her shoes to a poor street girl. Ever since she performed barefoot in remembrance of that girl and and to raise awareness for poor children. She participated in numerous charities to raise money for good causes.

Beautiful reaction. When she was 6yrs old and traveling in the middle east. she ran into a little girl a street child who didn't have any shoes. She took off her shoes and gave them to the little girl. The little girl said she would pray for her for being so kind. Angelina told her she would never wear shoes when she performs until every child had shoes. She became the youngest author in Norway shen she wrote a book about her experience with that street child. Most artist, when you've heard a few songs, you can pretty much imagine what the next song will sound like. I know you like Dimash and Diana and rightfully so, but they are included in that observation. Angelina, will throw you a curve ball then follow it up with a change up. Sorry about the baseball analogies but, you get the drift. From a A Song for A, How great Thou Art to I Will Survive and a whole lot in between, she can and does do it all. If you really want to shed some tears, think about lost love ones, then listen to her original Million Miles. No over the top vocal acrobatics. Just powerful heartfelt lyrics performed flawlessly.

I think the story behind her bare feet is as follows. Angelina was 6 years old and saw another child walking outside and she was barefoot. Her feet were cut and calloused. Angelina gave her own shoes to the little girl and promised she would always perform bare footed to bring attention to the many children who have no shoes.

Hi Rosalie, here is the shorter version of why she sings barefoot: Based on the true story of when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl while traveling in the Middle East who was weighing people on a bathroom scale to make a living. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world's children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public. Angelina, since 8 years old has helped raise over 22 million for charitable causes as well, she IS the real deal as a person, humble, sweet, caring, classy and quite eloquent, not just the generational talent on display. After watching your great reaction for the 2nd time, your comment that Angelina's performance made you think of the late, great Amy Winehouse also resonated with me. Angelina is a big fan of Amy's music. In fact she did an amazing cover of Back To Black when she was just 10 with KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra). However - since her Mom thought some of the lyrics were not appropriate for a 10 year old girl, Angelina was able to rewrite those lyrics to be more age appropriate. And what's truly amazing, is that she was able to do so while still maintaining the melody & flow of Amy's original. And - she sounds so much like Amy - that when I listen with my eyes closed I actually see Amy singing. Anyway - always look forward to your Angelina reactions, Thank you. Angie calls her real fans "Angels" so why not have her playlist say "Angelina Jordan Angels" or "Angelina Angels" or Angelina Jordan (Sometimes Angie is filmed & it's not released for 1-3+ yrs later. Those of us who have been following Angie for a long time know what ages she was at on her videos. Like when Mery her grandma filmed "I put a spell on you" she was 9 yrs old & it was released a year later when she was 10. Angie said it herself on the "Gloomy Sunday" that she was 7) When Queen saw & heard this, they were so blown away that they posted it on their account "WOW!! what a rendition" @AngelinaJordan & they even gave her the rights to her version of the song so it's official her song with all copy rights etc. Please react to this very touching on (Why does Angie perform barefoot). I just want to clarify Angelina was not "9 Years and 2 Months" when she did "I Put A Spell on You". This is a piece of misinformation that one person put out there, and it seems to have stuck. The earliest evidence of the video comes from Feb 2015, and the video was likely recorded prior to that. It is very possible that Angelina was late 8's, but also possible it was right around her 9th birthday. Just saying she was 9 is close enough. Saying "9 years two months" came from someone attempting to appear more knowledgeable about it. I'm not faulting you, MyTime. You are just repeating what you were lead to believe was accurate. That is the problem with embellishing the details. People are more likely to think it is true if it appears more detailed. ...also, one more clarification about the video, Mery did not film the video. It was filmed by director Per Heimly. Sorry to correct. I am just a stickler for accuracy, and I keep seeing inaccurate information being spread around Angelina in the past couple years.

Angelina's renditions sound amazingly impactful for this reason: she sings the lyrics in the way they beg to sung, with EMOTION....her renditions are as unique as her voice. I'd like to ask you to name me a "humble" artist who at 6yrs old showed COMPASSION and took the shoes off her feet to give another child... The action was heartfelt, and if she has that in her soul, it is also expressed in her music..from her heart to ours... as you journey more into her music, you'll realize she's truly ONE OF A KIND. Not a singer but an ARTIST, with a palette of vocal techniques, that she uses freely and boldly... Angelina isn't reliant on "belting" to be impressive, if you almost cried... It wasn't due to lung capacity, belting, or dramatics, it's because she reaches into your heart, tugs at your emotions, MOVING you in ways that surprise you, but you'll learn to expect.
