Thanks for ending it on a happy note. I hate it when people think the only reason her fans like her is because she's pretty. That's not the reason. Yes, she is gorgeous but there's way more to her then that and you just explained that in it's entirety. She's relatable, wise, powerful. Her backstory leads to a strong message that you learn while playing SMG "You're not alone. Though you may think you've lost everything you never truly do. No. Just no. 1) What if Rosalina doesn't feed the Lumas because she has no Star Bits. If I recall, there are no Star Bits on the Observatory and Rosalina cannot travel because she needs stars. Until Mario gets the first Grand Star, Rosalina cannot do anything. This also explains point 2. 3) Rosalina needs to stay behind to care for the Lumas. This doesn't just mean feeding them. It also means telling them stories and advising them. She has to rely on Mario to save the universe, or subject the Lumas to the same abandonment she was subjected to. Except it would be worse because she would be essentially destroying an entire nation of Lumas. Rosalina even opens a portal to Peach's Castle to assist Mario. She doesn't fight because she is a motherly figure. Also, in later installments in the Mario series, Rosalina DOES play an action based role. Rosalina also isn't just relying on a "random stranger". She watches over everyone, so she knows she can count on Mario, since she is aware of his deeds. And again, she does help by letting him use her Observatory. You need more evidence before you claim something so crazy!

I'm twelve years old and I have a friend from school who's around my age who lost her mother not too long ago. She seems very cheerful and happy at school, but I am not close enough to her to see what she's really like. She seems that she might possibly have had ACS before, as she seems to be pretty silent and detached at times. But, I think her ACS was also reversed, because she seems much genuine and happier lately, and she has loving and kind friends to keep her that way. It makes me feel happy for her, and for Rosalina, because they are both examples that even if you've had problems in the past, you can still be happy if you have friends and loved ones who care for you. :3

I've always held the belief that over time caring for the Lumas on the monotonous journey through the cosmos, Rosalina lost soul. I don't mean she lost her soul in the metaphysical sense. The best way I've come up with to describe it is she "wasn't LIVING life, she was merely SURVIVING it". And that when Bowser came and stole the Observatory's Stars, and the very happy-go-lucky Mario came to save his "special one", and the time the two spent together while they worked on solving both their problems, bits of Mario's personality rubbed off on her and she got some soul back.

I think another part to the theory would be that Mario helped cure her condition. She's lonely and depressed, but suddenly a hero comes along, reuniting and helping what she considers her children. And then, considering her a friend, as she gets invited to sports, racing, and friendly battles, and even to join Mario's adventure, things she's never done before. She has new motivation thanks to Mario and the friends she made.
