Checking some Ancient Greece art, other than wearing armor according to the time period and specific circumstances, apparently they did fight naked.

In Greek and Roman art, heoric, divine and semi-divine persons were often depicted nude, even in battle. These are idealized rather than realidtic depictions. Scholars call these 'heroic nudes'. This has lead to misconceptions about the extent of nudity in ancient Greek culture. There are examples in Greek histories of Celts fighting naked, but whether the historian meant 'completely nude' or 'shirtless' is up for interpretation. It is also questionanle whether this is an application of the nude ideal to an enemy to make them sound more formidable or even stupid will likely never be known.
