When it comes to Beatles music (and most music in general I feel), KZbin isn’t kind on reactions. Most of the songs had to be butchered due to copyright, Love me Do and Misery specifically, so we had to get creative with how to react to the album lol Don’t know how to feel about it honestly. Still a ton of fun though! And looking forward to doing more. P.S. We are not music critics in the slightest, so don’t take anything we say in this video seriously. We’re just average people giving an average opinion.

Misery *was* written by Lennon and McCartney. It's not a cover of someone else's song. But you're right that they first offered it to Helen Shapiro, whose manager for whatever reason turned it down. And I agree 💯about There's A Place being underrated. It's terrific!

John's vocal abilities at these times are really incredible if you listen to him. I love the early Lennon as much as I love the late McCartney.

Sorry guys, two corrections on my comments. Ringo joined in September, 1962 not 63. My big fat finger probably hit 3. The other is the ten song marathon session where they recorded ten of the fourteen tracks not ten of the ten tracks. I should proof read but often don't think of it.

Ringo joined a year before (1962), and three songs were recorded in 1962 already. The single Love Me Do with P.S. I Love You as the B-side also released in 1962. Ask Me Why is the third song recorded in that year.

"Anna" was a song performed by Arthur Alexander. John was a big fan. The Beatles covered his "A Shot of Rhythym and Blues" on the BBC Sessions and in the last years of his life the journalist Robert Palmer attested that John's home jukebox was filled with old Arthur Alexander 45s. I share John's appreciation for the guy.

Ringo and the beatles new each other and Ringo loved the Beatles, it’s the main reason why he joined the band, and the Beatles loved Ringo even before he ever joined, they were friends prior to the arangement

Ooo album review Yeah for sure, growing up on the Beatles was the same way for me. Instead of a cd disk I used my mom's old iPod, a while she had full albums there, her mix had her favorites and that's what I knew till I saw the Beatles musical Across The Universe, which pulls so much across all their albums while narratively weaving a superb 60s commentary.

Before Hamburg "The Beatles" were barely a band, and Ringo was in the #1 group in Liverpool, "Rory & The Hurricanes". They got to know each other in Hamburg.

the beatles met ringo bc they were performing in the same venues as his former band rory storm and the hurricanes. they became close friends ringo was playing drums for other bands as well because he was considered the best in Liverpool. sometimes pete best wouldnt show up to a gig so he would cover for him so he had been performing with them for some time before officially signing on!!! because of this you get the infamous scene of a crowd of pete fans shouting at the band pete best forever ringo never and george got a black eye for defending ringo

Just so you know, Paul has the widest vocal range of all the Beatles, which means he can sing high and sweet, low, gritty and screamy. He can sound like several different men depending on the song. Try listening to Here, There, and Everywhere , And I Love Her, or I Will...then listen to Helter Skelter, Oh Darling, Lady Madonna, I'Ve Got a Feeling, Back in the USSR and if you see how DIFFERENT he can sound. George has the most limited range.

The only reason this album was put out so quickly was because George Martin knew Please Please Me was going to be a number one hit and needed an album to go with it. So they just recorded all the songs they'd been performing in the clubs. Given that they did ten songs in one day, it's remarkably good.

ringo's song boys is originally a girl group song by the shirelles its a song he loved to perform even before he was in the beatles he used to perform it with his former band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes some of the lyrics were changed so it wouldn't sound ...gay? but even then some critics thought the song weird to sing from a group of guys

Good job reviewing this LP. I still enjoy this album even though many of the tunes sound dated. My least favorite of this bunch (of their entire catalog, to be honest) is Boys. The reason why it was included on this LP is, 1) it was part of their repertoire at the time and, 2) the group wanted Ringo to sing one song per album--although that wasn't always possible. On interesting note worth mentioning, the group worked through their lunch break. When the engineers returned from their lunch, the Beatles were still practicing on a few songs. The engineers reportedly never had artists do that before. What's more, when the session concluded at 10:30 pm, the Beatles wanted to hang out in the control room so they could listen to the playback. Another first for the studio personnel. That fateful day was a sign of things to come. Another fact worth including: the Beatles spent just under 8 yrs recording their material. Their first recording was on 11Sep1962 (Love Me Do / P. S. I Love You) and the last day all 4 members were together in the studio was 20Aug1969 (The End--how apropos). What blows me away is that most recording artist barely change either their image or their material in 8 yrs. The Beatles left everyone in the dust.

It was George Martin who suggested they lose Best. They talked Brian Epstein into doing the deed. This comes from someone who watched them on Ed Sullivan live when I was 9 and had them as the soundtrack of my youth. Today, I am considered an expert on The Beatles.

In the beginning Paul McCartney played the guitar in the Beatles, but a member quitted the band so Paul McCartney was the only one who accepted to switch the instrument starting with as bass player, so he really needed to learn from other bass players how to build a bass line

The producer, Geroge Martin, basically said to replace Pete Best with a pro drummer for the recording sessions. That turend out to be Andy White then the Beatles decided why not get rif of Pete and get Rino, whom they knew and had sat in with them when Pete was sick or something. They KNEW with Ringo, who was alreay pro in another band, was waaayy better and exactly who they needed or they would never make it. this missing ingredient.

Sorry but the bass line that Paul is doing doesn't sound identical to Chuck Berry's song. I wish you could you have played more than about 10 seconds of the song....not fun watching and hearing nothing. JOHN and PAUL DID write "MISERY" I LOVE "ASK ME WHY" always HAVE, and "BOYS" I LOVE this WHOLE album.

Hi there sorry to correct you too actually wasn't that what happened was that the Beatles played for George Martin ok the record producer he did not like Pete Best playing because he wasn't keeping in time so he said to Brian Epstein The Beatles manager that he would get a session drummer in call Andy White buy this time The Beatles have had got fed up with Pete Best a phoned up Ringo Starr who was at that time with Rory storm and The Hurricanes and ask him to join their group and he said yes and The Beatles got Brian Epstein to sack peat best
