Always such beautiful soap! So I tried this yesterday, I thought I was doing great up until it was too late when I realized I forgot to check how my fragrance oil preforms! So with literally 3-4 oz of soap on a spoon, I managed to get out of mold and let’s say the effort was great & all my kids will be mailed a slice! Lol

Lovely, delicate design. I also use (exclusively) natural colorants and essential oils in my soaps. I imagine you mixed kaolin clay with essential oils to anchor the scent - am I right? Do you find it makes a difference? I haven’t made side by side comparison so I find it hard to tell. Also, I never mixed clay straight into the essential oils, I’ve always added it to soap batter. But I tried your method today and I’m really looking forward to see what happens! Thank you for sharing, Holly. Joanna

Really beautiful Holly, and I can tell you, I loved the way this lathered! Where does the rosemary oleoresins come in? I have tried to use it and it really discolored my soap
@hollysoapmaking7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Jenifer! I add the rosemary oleoresin to the warmed oils. But only a very tiny amount - .08% of the total oils. So for a 1000g recipe, I’d only add .8 g. :)

Hi Holly! Your work is incredible! I was wondering can the cacao butter be substituted with mango butter? Also, is it necessary to anchor the EOs with kaolin clay? Thanks and your craft is awesome!!
@hollysoapmaking5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’ve never used mango butter, but I have read that you can use it in place of either shea or cocoa butter. The SAP values will probably be different, so the new recipe would need to be run through a lye calculator. Regarding the kaolin, it’s not necessary at all. I’ve heard it helps anchor the scent, but I honestly don’t know. I should probably test that. 😊 I really just like how the soap feels when I include it. Thanks for asking!

does the kaolin clay add to the whiteness of the base?
@hollysoapmaking4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes but it really depends on the shade of the white kaolin clay. I find some to be more gray than white, and those don't really help. I usually try different suppliers to find the whitest I can. BrambleBerry used to have super white kaolin. Right now I'm using some from Mad Micas that definitely seems to help lighten the soap.

Seriously the most beautiful soap I have seen. You are an inspiration 💕 I’m a new soap maker and just love everything you do. I’m currently shopping around for clay but what I’ve seen on Amazon doesn’t seem reliable. Where do you get the pink clay from? Thanks so much!!
@hollysoapmaking3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I get most of my clays from Nurture Soap Co. They don’t sell an orange clay, so I buy that one from Symphony Scents.
