They are super comfy and have stood up They do take getting use to, and it was recommended to only wear them for a few hours each day until your feet and legs adjusted to walking on what will feel like bare feet. Once you do get adjusted they feel fine. Very light! Cheers and thanks for the in depth video. M.

Rose Anvil I’ve switched all my shoes to Vivos, so I guess they’re ok lol. But honestly they are great shoes. The boots I have are the Scott 2.0 leather with a camera hide lining which definitely keeps you warm. Since they a barefoot style (zero drop) it’s just what I’m assuming is some type of eco friendly rubber and a removable insole. The insole has a “thermal” liner on it the help regulate temperature but I not really convince it fully does what it’s intended to do. The sole of the seems pretty tough so I’m curious on how long they last through the years, along with the leather outer. But as a shoe, Vivos and just switching to zero drop shoes in general my knee pains had from skateboarding for over 15 years have gone and my lower back pain have gone to. And as for the over construction of the shoes I only had them of 5 months and they seem to wearing in good and holding up fairly well. Definitely should check them out. And Xero shoes is another zero drop company with good shoes 🙏🏽

@@ChaosBW I agree. I also wonder why they are all still manufacturing in China. I can buy a pair of KEEN, made in America, shoes for around $125 depending on sales. Xero shoes, made in China, are about $90. The difference is the KEEN's are leather featuring more complex and difficult construction. The Xeroes are canvas, minimalist, and next to nothing construction. I'd be surprised if they cost more than $20 to manufacture once they get up and going. My point is if they can make KEENs in America and make a profit they can make any shoe in America and make a profit. It's just that corporations choose China to make more of a profit. I think when they talk about innovations, they mean more the materials, with puncture resistant soles that are not even 4mm thick for example. Or that manage to have a lot of traction but are still very thin and flexible. Some minimal shoes are also pretty weatherproof which you wouldn't expect. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Altra shoes/boots yet. I love their running shoes and have a pair of their hiking boots for work. They are the original zero-drop brand, and they are very comfortable while also being supportive. They do strengthen your calf and foot muscles due to the positioning of the foot when the muscle is activated. Its basically a deeper stretch and starting position.

Altra's Lone Peak Hiking boot (which I regrettably purchased) is NOT waterproof, nowhere near it. And I'm talking about basic rain walking, not even puddles or anything serious. Have you considered cutting into lifting shoes and or lifting belts? Belts in particular have some boutique type brands like Pioneer Leathercraft and Best Belt and theres the $250+ behemoth SBD belt (which costs so much primarily due to its patented clasp system) and some classic ubiquitous brands like Inzer (who allegedly use board stock in their $100+ belt!). Shoe wise the variations are endless, but you would be drawing a crowd from powerlifting, olympic lifting, crossfit and so forth since we all wear lifting shoes and all wear belts. Your unbiased knowledge would be awesome.
@LuckyStrikeLT4 жыл бұрын
Don't know if you've seen but Pioneer did a video cutting open a few belts. I think it was Inzer, Titan and one of their own belts, maybe some others too. Obviously there could be some conflict of interest but I trusted what Pioneer showed from cutting open the belts. In the Pioneer video Inzer belt had a piece of really hard leather in it, I'd say that's true, I had an Inzer 13mm belt for about 3-4 years, didn't conform to my body at all, stayed flat which I didn't like. As for weightlifting shoes, sure it would be interesting to see like Nike Romaleos cut in half but I don't think you'd find much inside since the main goal is to make them as stable as possible so it's probably all plastic in the heel and some models don't even have any leather on the uppers anymore.

I've been wearing these for over a year now (I've got 3 pairs in various stages of use) and they are amazing. The 1/2 size up is perfect for me. I've always worn flat shoes because it is more natural, so for me there was nothing to adjust to as far as getting used to minimalist design. You can put arch support gel pads if you prefer. They're lighter than air, there's nothing to these shoes, all the benefits are on the inside. I typically wear them as a casual / lightweight outdoor activities boot. I'll walk a couple miles with my dog, do some light yard work, etc. so they are suitable for a range of activities including even-terrain hiking. I would not wear these for a moderate or extreme hike. The ankle is mid-level and easy to stretch and bend which is nice because I like ankle support but I don't like stiff ankle tops that restrict movement. Inner lining is nice quality, although I wish there was additional reinforced fabric at the heel as rubbing tends to wear the lining over time. I painstakingly sewed some canvas cuttings on the inner heel to reinforce it. The stitching along the outer shell could be done a little tighter but it's never given me any issues. I don't like that they're made in China but what can you do? 8/10 for me.

I went looking for a pair of Lems based on this review. I wore nothing but sandals as a kid. So now my toes are too wide for most shoes. I couldn't find a pair of the leather ones. But I did buy a pair of the Nylon version. They were exactly what Rose Anvil led me to expect. Plenty of room for my toes. Very comfortable. But they don't have much padding and they don't provide much protection for your feet. I use them to walk for miles around farm fields and sheds. I've been very happy with them. The zero rise resolved a problem I had been having with the balls of my feet being sore. The subtle heel of my old boots were tipping my foot just far enough forward to put my weight on the front of the ball of my foot. When I started wearing the Lems my weight shifted back to the middle of the ball of the foot. And the bruised feeling on the bottom of my feet cleared up. So despite having less padding than my old boots, the bottoms of my feet are less sore in them. I wasn't expecting this. I figured it out by switching back and forth between my old and new boots and paying attention to my feet.

I love Lems shoes, and I have a pair of these boots in the blue and brown color and wear them frequently. They are so comfy and I also get compliments on their appearance. My main criticism is the tread - when they were new, whenever I walked on gravel, the grooves were the exact width to get little pebbles stuck in them. It happens less now that it's been worn down so much. I also have the Lems Primal 2s and haven't had as many issues with stuck pebbles with those shoes. The pebble problem isn't going to keep me from buying more of these though.

The things that I would change would be to get rid of the liner and to make them in literally any other country in the world other than China. I would naturally think to say that I would like these to be stitched in some way to make them more durable, but that also might have the effect of making them less flexible, which would normally be good, but for these that is going against the purpose.

I've never understood why just about every pair of shoes I find tries to jam your toes into a "circle" or some other stupid unnatural shape. Like guys, this is what a foot is shaped like... it's not a damned circle. I'm starting to realize that tradition and "beauty" are the driving force behind most of the shoes made so you have to be really picky to find shoes that are actually worth wearing.

I have a pair of Five Fingers that I've been wearing off and on for almost ten years now and I love the minimalist, high contact aspect of them. I can't wear them when it's really hot or really cold, though, so a pair of these might be just the thing I need to replace my tiring Doc Martens. Hm... Thanks for this! I love your videos. :)

I've enjoyed the Vivobarefoot Gobi line. Expensive for what they are but nice unlined leather or hemp cloth thin-soled shoes. I do hope you're taking detailed photographs of all these cut up shoes. That's a good thing to document in more than just video.

Man, I just ordered a pair of these a few weeks ago (waterproof boulder boots). We are a big hiking family, and I’ve got extremely wide feet. Hands down the best brand I’ve ever worn. As soon as I got them in the mail, I ordered their Primal 2s and a pair of boulder boots for my guy. We have since got our order, in love. Best purchase. I normally spend a lot of money on clothes and shoes, but they are worth it. Lems from now on.

Love the Boulder Boot. I've been using minimalist shoes for over five years now, and I've tried a good number of brands. Boulder Boot is easy #1 for me. Bonus for the black nylon ones being vegan. Also love the Mini- Mil from Tactical Research by Belleville. They're basically a cop/duty/military/tactical thing. 2mm drop. Very light. The toe box isn't as wide as the Boulder Boot but it still works for me. I just wish they offered them in a lower version. I think they come in tan and OD green as well as black. Black works good if you want a kicking around boot for urban life with looks that doesn't really stand out that much but performance that can deliver in a bunch of scenarios. Warm socks and you can do a lot of the winter. You could hike with them. Non slip. edited for spelling

Guys let me tell you, this style of foot wear can help you, with your ankle, knee, hip and back issues. This type of bear foot boots and shoes, should be putting other shoe companies out of business soon. High arch shoes are the main cause of most back injury's and running injury's.
@GoGoGooManGo3 жыл бұрын
I have the mid leather ones and use the Superfeet hiking insoles with them. They're really a godsend if you have sensory issues. Also I'm a size 13 and have never really found it practical to travel with a pair of boots, but I can be do it with these because of their weight and flexibility. I really ought to get around to writing a review on their site, hah.

@Randy Chelmsford Thank you so much about adding in a different insole. That's what I'm searching around for. My husband actually has a really high arch. And I know his calf and achilles will get tired. But I know his toe box needs something wider. Thanks for your review.

These are great I've had a pair for coming up to three years. Initially just casual wear but as they never seem to die I now wear them doing landscaping/paving work. They still hold up despite the use and abuse now being covered in concrete/sand/Cement dust. Like you said though the internal lining is wearing through esp one of the heel counters but overall defo much stronger than expected. I do clean and condition them regularly though which also makes them nearly waterproof.
@thisguy29733 жыл бұрын
I’ve started into the zero-drop/barefoot type shoes recently. I own the Altra Escalante Racer for my daily running shoe, and Xero HFS road running shoes. The Escalante Racer is excellent because while it’s a zero drop, it still had s cushioning and that cushioning is appropriately responsive. The Xero HFS, while comfortable in a certain way, are a lot more painful to wear than a cushioned shoe. The MAJOR factor that barefoot proponents miss is that while it’s unnatural for your feet to be covered in comfy shoes, the flat ground we walk on 99% of the time is also unnatural. So our feet require a certain level of arch support by way of orthotics to deal with that flat ground. Your joints on the bottoms of your feet need protection from that harsh environment. When dealing with terrain, I believe this is the true spot where barefoot shoes work, they I don’t think they’re good at all for hard flat ground.

I love my black all-canvas Boulder boots. Even lighter than the leather ones. I did use it backpacking on the Pacific Crest Trail, but after ten miles or so, I was getting heel pain from lack of cushioning. I switched to trail runner shoes for backpacking from then on. But the boots are still with me and they are comfortable.

I spent years trying to find a pair of footwear that did not cause me extreme pain. I found Lems 3 years ago. I own 6 pairs, 3 black leather, 3 russet leather. They are very comfortable, light weight, and durable. They withstand a lot of abuse, hiking, my warehouse job (Which I shouldn't wear them there)... etc. I wear them for everything. I did have a pair blow out a side seam after two years. Still my favorite and only pair of footwear. I have so many because I snag a pair everytime Lems has a sale. For sizing, I typically wear a size 11 in everything and I got the 45EU or 11 in these and they fit snug but the leather stretches over time. I wear these with socks.

I have the waterproof boulder boot. It made my calf and Achilles tendon hurt like mad for a couple of weeks but after that it was fine. The best part was it basically cured my plantar fasciitis The only down side was they are almost impossible to put on. I need a shoe horn because the entrance hole is too small. I suspect that problem is limited to the waterproof model with the attached tongue
