I'm betting the sidewall is more flexible than the outsole, which is why it's harder to pop (the surface bends around the sharp object more). The outsole has to be more rigid to provide durability, so it's providing a firmer surface for a nail to punch through.

Don’t worry about the amount of subscribers that will come in time, the information you bring to this channel is so much more valuable. I’ve changed my perspective on shoes since watching your channel and I’m grateful for it. I’m putting my money into good quality shoes, sneakers. These shoes brands should be ashamed of what they’re putting out to us and at these prices, which C, D grade material.

I used these as a High School Basketball referee and I had them for 4 mos and they held up beautifully! No air bag issues and a LOT of questions and compliments! I was surprised at how much support they have as they have some resemblance of the failed experiment of the VaporMax. The rubber sole is very durable, and the air bladder is extremely firm and durable! There were days where I've done tournaments of 7 games in a day, and that will wear out anyone feet, but I had total comfort still with these Scorps! I did have the rubber soleon one of the bladders start to peel off, and I submitted a claim to Nike, 4 mos later and they issues me a full refund! I reordered the Black/Red Scorps and they are SEXY!

I have claimed 3 pairs for warranty defects in 6 years. It takes a while for the process to go through but it does work & gives nike real life feedback on these outsoles.

My air max 2021 lost the air in the outside bubble. The internal bubble which is much better protected still holds the air - I honestly don't feel any difference when walking. Just slightly more lean when i'm trying to stand on my heel - but who ever does that besides testing shoes. So I guess the best idea would be having two separated air bubbles just like in Air Max 2021 - outside one for aesthetic purpose and protection with intenral bubble doing the real job.

The puncture tests were different because of the shape of the sidewall vs the foot. With the larger nail, obviously the force is more spread out, but the sidewall has more curvature to support the force better than the sole, where it's just flat. With the needle, it's sharp and concentrated enough that the extra support the sidewall geometry gives isn't actually doing anything

I love Nike Air Maxes. Shoes with visible air bubbles were the pinnacle of cool sneakers in the 90s when I grew up and I've carried that fascination with them into adulthood. My last pair to pop was the Air Max 2009 (full air unit) reissue I bought in 2012 and they popped this year. I was using them in the garage and the sidewalls frequently got abraised so I think maybe that's why they popped. I have a pair of Air Max 90 that I've also had for 10 years and though they're pretty beat. My main garage shoes are my Air Max Tavas which are similar to the AM90 in that they have a visible heel air unit encased in a foam midsole and no other air. I've absolutely trashed those. The suede upper has started to separate from the midsole but the they still hold air and are very comfortable. They are maybe 7 (?) years old. I have a few pairs with full-length air units - the Air Max 720, Air Max 2014 and Air Force Max TB; I wear the 720s and 2014s cautiously but I wear Air Force Max TBs even when riding motorcycle though I may not do that anymore as I don't want them to burst. The 720s are the most comfortable shoes I have though they don't flex. About tied with them are Nike Zoom Flys which have an unassuming appearance like many foam running shoes do. But they are very light, plush and responsive - they also have carbon fiber plates in them.

If the air unit does puncture, is there a warranty from Nike? I mean $250 for a pair of sneakers that could last one outing. Stepping on a hot cigarette bud by accident or a piece of glass or a nail would be money down the drain. Not sure why these are called 'scorpion' if it has a sharp pointed tail.

The cost, pain and inconvenience from damaged joints more than justifies any price you can pay for a good running shoe. If you're working construction, you have to have steel in the toe. And if you're running a lot, you have to have shock absorption in the sole. Decades later, you might still have joint, ligament, and arthritis issues. Then you can tell your surgical team, "I bought the best quality running shoes I could afford."

In my case, unfortunately, aesthetics matters little compared to functionality. I suffer from chronic, drug-resistant pain on both legs all the way down to the soles of my feet (I have a severe form of Multiple Sclerosis since 2002) and, after obviously testing different Brands over the years when I needed to change shoes, I recognized that the Nike Air Max that cushion the entire sole are the ones that help me suffer a little less when I have to walk (of course there are some models, depending on the collections of the different seasons, that for my pain "work" better than others). In time I also managed to test the Vapormax and 720, hence the confirmation that for my case the more air they put in, the more relief I have. It will be the feeling of "floating" that helps me in the one thing that is fundamental for me, to try to suffer less, then maybe it will not be the best for proper walking (I don't know eh, I speculate) but at the current point of my illness that is no longer cared for. Sorry for the long premise but I ask you...do you think the time will ever come when the price will drop a little and they will also be purchasable at more attainable prices? Forgive the silly question but I live in Italy and public health care is not like it used to be and more and more drugs are paid for, hence the reason for the question. Excuse my English, I am Italian-French.

This is an effectively obsolete technology, so the durability of a product that is primarily an aesthetic gimmick isn't necessarily a high priority. That being said a layer of puncture resistant aramid cloth would have been pretty easy to laminate between the pad and the outsole.

The sidewall is probably thicker to try to prevent rolling and side flex.

Suggestion to save you a buck with the cutting. Stan Smith normal vs Stan Smith Luxe. Luxe is described as premium leather. But hey Wes you'll get 1M for sure, you are the exposer of badly made shoes. Which is important for ppl like me that values quality rather than hype.

I bought a pair of Air Max shoes in the late 1990s and they popped within a few months. I vowed to never buy another pair again because of that. Then, I vowed to never buy another Nike product when they decided to hate on me as a human being and as a customer. I switched to New Balance and never looked back.

here in Scotland its thorns that have popped my nike air. Trail running Nike Pegasus air popped within 2 weeks, Nike declined a replacement. As these Nikes in the video are novelty item there is no reason for them to pop if just wear around the house and pavements if you avoid woods

the ball drop test is probably totally dependent on where it lands on the pocket, it looks like yours didn't land in an ideal spot

You should review the Jordan 5 Pure platinum. It retailed for $400 and supposedly uses only ultra-premium leather and other materials. I think it would be cool if you check ed them out to see if they were actually any good.

I've never had a pair of full soled airmax that didn't eventually go flat even when worn just to walk in and keep nice. Sometimes its years later but always happens. One exception may be my vapormax. 3 years strong now. That being said for 250 they should take alot.
