In terms of the boost being softer or firmer, Adidas is known for producing mid soles at different densities for different applications. It just depends on how many of the pellets get compressed into the mold before they’re melted together. if you compare models of the Ultraboost from the last several years for example you’ll generally see the midsole get denser in the newer shoes. Just depends on how they want to balance durability against impact protection. This is pretty common with athletic shoes in general. Just because two different sneakers advertise the same foam doesn’t mean it’s going to perform the same in both. One might have been injection molded and the other compression molded. Another might have been injection molded but with more pressure and material leading to better durability and a firmer, more responsive feel.
@punkfloyd2 жыл бұрын
They reel you in with the ultra boost 1.0 . i always thought the difference in squish has to do with how the boost is or isn't wrapped or encapsulated to the midsole and upper. Like how the ultra boost can expand laterally way more than the boost in a 350 or 700 since the boost isn't all caged up. But what you said makes total sense and is probably what is going on.
@danielendres10992 жыл бұрын
@@punkfloyd Right. some models do have the encapsulated midsole like with the Yeezys, and those do tend to have a more dense rubbery feel. Adidas did this with a lot of the first basketball shoes with boost to make it more laterally stable. With the 350v2 they feel so soft for 3 reasons in my opinion: huge amount of boost, the density of the boost (what I was saying above), and the flexibility of the rubber enclosing it (basically the enclosure is soft enough it doesn’t impede the foam’s ability to expand). The 700s have less boost, and the EVA midsole has less give than the thin rubber side walls on the 350. According to his test it’s denser too, but the construction of the shoe has more to do with it feeling firm I think. Basically it’s some of both. There’s a lot of things that sneaker companies can do to manipulate the way a midsole feels and performs.

@punkfloyd2 жыл бұрын
Crazy that heal lean must be why most people size up at least 1 full size, I went 1.5 size up and I'm glad I did otherwise those would be so uncomfortable on the back of your leg not to mention your toes 😭 they are a different boot for sure but after wearing them for a few days they seem to be made to be worn upsized and laces at least semi loose as the construction and fit keep it on your foot nice without relying too much on lace tension. Overall I'd say I like the soft suede and the 3m stripe but just very average in quality.

Funny how you were comparing this to a dad shoe (like the NB 990v5)... as the designer of the Yezzy 700 (Steven Smith) used to work for New Balance back in the day. I'd really like to see you take down one of the Jordan 1 "High 85" colorways. They're supposed to be a version of the Jordan 1 that is true to how they were originally manufactured in 1985. Supposedly they use full grain leather in the construction, and their retail price point shows it ($200 MSRP vs the usual $170 MSRP for a Jordan 1). I'd be curious to find out if it's true. The edges of the leather do look like they have a grain pattern to me, but I also have no idea what I'm doing.
