thanks man, great video... time for me to get started, my wifes kona is a 2020 and it looks so much worse than this, so much more rust and schmutz, makes sense why it was so hard to take things apart. isn't it weird that the brake pad with the double notches is the outside brake pad but the inside caliper brake pad doesn't have the notches for the piston head.

You mentioned the 2 holes on the caliper piston need to be at a 90 degree angle when retracting them to ensure they line up with the pins on the brake pad but it seems you installed the pads with the pins on the outer side away from the piston. What did I miss?

I believe I filmed the incorrect position, realized my mistake and then inserted the corrected information in front of the initial clip. When you install the brake pads, you will see the slots for the pins on the back of the brake pads.

When you turn the pistons on on the back calipers, do both sides get turned clockwise? I have a 2019 Kona SEL. Want to check, since I heard that some cars its clockwise on one side and counterclockwise on the other side.

My local Mavis told me that the cost to replace rear pads/rotors on my 2021 Hyundai Kona is higher than the front because my car has "electronic calipers" on the rear. This sounds like a total scam to me...are they trying to grab me?

If they used the “because it has electronic calipers” excuse, yes that smells like a scam. I think the front pads and rotor set is actually more expensive than the rear, because the rear brake pads and generally smaller than the front. Don’t get me wrong, the rear is slightly more work and requires a special compression tool. Shouldn’t add more than 5 additional minutes or work on either side. How much more are they trying to charge you for the rear over the front set?
