We have two types of smart device reading correction, either by trimming the sensor input or by trimming the sensor output. We use input trimming when there is a difference between the reading of the external pressure source and the reading of the transmitter, and it is done in two ways: zero trimming or sensor trimming. We use zero trimming if the transmitter is not connected to an external pressure source, in other words, the high side is open to atmospheric pressure. However, if the transmitter is connected to an external pressure source for the purpose of testing it, here we will use sensor trimming, where there will be trimming of two readings, zero and span. However, if there is a difference between the reading of the transmitter output AO and the reading of the Controller or multimeter, if it is connected to the output, here we resort to using the second type of trimming, which is trimming the sensor output 4-20mA, where the 4mA reading will be trimmed first, then 20mA, each separately.
