Amazing content, perfect amount of depth, tangential lines and analysis to keep new players interested and learning efficiently. Although if I've gleaned anything watching CCSCSL videos is that Arjun is to be feared, do not play Arjun, he knows all the lines.

Rosen's never fails to deliver! I'm currently in a downward spiral, I'm kinda hovering at my current rating and I've now decided it was the good time to completely lay off playing chess to focus exclusively on theory, I have decided to learn at least a master game by heart everyday, do my tactics and endgames and perhaps a bit of opening theory as well. I will try to hold this regiment for at least two month, because I need to take a break from chess while not really taking a break from it, I want to improve. Pretty happy to saw I did see c1 was the way to go as black and see Qe2 was losing the queen.

Maybe one reason these Eric Rosen lectures are so successful is that they appeal to a pretty wide range of levels. I think a 1300 can appreciate a whole lot of the content, but there's also plenty that an 1800 can learn from.

It's funny how things can change so much from one game to the next! Here he is rated under 2200 and beats a Grandmaster quickly with Black. His next game was the 1st round of the Illinois Open where he was announced as Illinois' newest Master. He had White in his 1st round game against little old me, and he was already in trouble after just 9 moves!! But, he was the better player and eventually won anyways!!

Damn, you gave away some of my secret openings here, hopefully not so many will see this video :p Tho, on 43:40 I usually go for Re1, trade the black queen and keep the black bishop trapped, actually white is down on material but has initiative, but white sometimes fail to convert so I will consider more your line.

44:39 I wonder what black's thought process was like...: "Yeah, Converting the extra rook & pawn can be tough... as we all know, rook & pawn endings can be pretty drawish after all. After Bxd4 however, the 2 connected passers are surely gonna win the game."

Brendan “I just.. (unclear) ..something like, I know.” I take it that this young man interrupted his lecturer only in order to say “I already knew that.” To which the lecturer responds “ok, you know” and then moves on. Is it more important to let the lecturer speak uninterrupted, or to let everyone know that “I knew that already.” I’m sure that kid is very very bright, but a wise man holds his peace and doesn’t make his own intelligence everyone else’s business.
