Omgosh what a dreamy adventure! I don't walk very well anymore, and I struggle in my wheelchair so I barely leave my house anymore. I'm really trying to overcome it. Anyway watching videos like this fill me with a sense of adventure and curiosity that helps. I love this! Thank you!

Me to with me it's chronic fatigue syndrome alongside a few other conditions so never know how long I am going to be awake and as a cup of coffee can suddenly feel like the weight of a bucket of water shopping and being outside finally became impossible 9 years ago I like you too get great joy out of the trips creators share on You tube.

@Lynette exactly how I feel, though it's all pretty new to me. I was hooked on "heygo" until they closed the app. It was such fun to stroll through a garden in Japan and the admire the architecture in Buenos Aires, or the ruins of Pompeii... churches in Italy! Castles in Scotland! All of the things I didn't think I could see or do, but with a guide to be my eyes and legs. 🥰 I'm so sorry you experience similar challenges, but I appreciate that you shared this with me. I don't know any people who share my curiosity about the world, but physically cannot pursue it. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

I was so looking forward to this vlog, and wow, Nippori is just amazing! I was born and spent my childhood in the middle east, and all the women in my family are talented in sewing. So, much of my clothes growing up were lovingly made for me by my mom, grandma and aunt. Being in Asia, many of the beautiful fabrics available to us were from Japan, and so I have very fond memories of my mom making me beautiful clothes with adorable prints, buttons and trim. A trip to Japan and Nippori is now on my bucket list. Also, I loved all your new fabric finds, especially that unique eyelet/broderie anglaise one.

I thought I was going to miss Nippori after becoming sick when we first arrived in Tokyo. But I got there on a very rainy overcast day. Bought 3 very Japanese inspired pieces of fabric, so was very very happy! Just realised it was only 6 days ago now, as I am home again. Thank you Janelle for letting me know about this amazing street. Highlight of my time in Tokyo!

Hi Janelle,I have been to Tokyo 3 months ago and I had a very similar experience with the big Tomato Shop and then i have found myself in the smaller one buying the same burnt orange -brown color linen :) I was influence by your aesthetic when I was buying it and the fabric is AMAZING! I sewed myself a draped sleeveless blouse and an a -line midi skirt and I feel so special every time I"m wearing it. Thank You for sharing It was so nice to go back to Nippori with You. Lovely Japanese fabric shopping day video! I just spent 3 days in transit through Paris. I went to the fabric coupons stores the first day. Took a "break day" sightseeing then went back for a second day. I really enjoyed the second day and found some amazing viscose twill which I bought in several colours. It did help to let the overwhelming choice breathe for a day. I am now thinking about another reason to go to Japan!

There were some super cute jumpsuits in those sewing books during your flip through of them - I would love to see you make some of those on the channel! Thanks for the recommendation Janelle!! Went to Nippori last week and was gobsmacked... I had planned an afternoon for the street but only managed to cover 2 tomato buildings. The main one was really quite overwhelming! But I had so much fun... also, can we talk about how affordable the cotton trimmings are? In Spotlight, they go for $12/m but they were so affordable there!

Thankyou Janelle, I’m definitely going to get myself to Nippori next year! I would describe current Japanese pattern book fashion as sorta Lagenlook with a dash of cottagecore; roomy and cute. That said, you need to be careful with pattern and fabric choices with those fashion styles if you don’t have a waif-like figure - I’m size16 and my first Japanese pattern book dress made me look like a floor rug, just one big slab of pattern. I now use much larger prints or textured plains for these patterns. Finally, I feel you with the overwhelm at Tomato store, great idea to go to the smaller ones.

I've been to Nippori 3 times. I was overwhelmed by the larger 🍅 store. My hubby leaves me there before they open and comes back for lunch. Near Kamata station, is also an amazing 5 floor fabric store called Yuzawaya. You can get a 5% off all purchases if you get a members card. The checkout lady did this for me last time. They also have Art supplies to die for.

11:42 I suggest you make the garment first, and then embroider squares one by one. That way you can still wear it out as you are continuously embellishing it. Plus, you won't have to worry about cutting into a square you worked so hard on when you pattern it out.
