ANISH PONNANNA
Anish Ponnanna is a noted sound specialist and artiste specialising in live and studio music productions, theatre, and large concert designs. His work on sound spans productions in a number of locations including at Bollywood. Anish holds a Bachelors degree in Science from Christ University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Audio Engineering from the SAE Institute.

KHALID AHAMED
Khalid Ahmed is a singer-songwriter, guitarist & composer, and also known as the frontman of the band Parvaaz. Khalid who hails from Kashmir writes and sings in Urdu and Kashmiri, and has made Bengaluru his home. This particular performance for The Engineer's Pick has been composed by Khalid himself.

APOORVA KRISHNA
Apoorva, who is a violinist is a graduate of the Berkeley College of Music. She has collaborated with many well-known artists including Ustaad Zakir Hussain and Shankar Mahadevan. Apoorva is quite versatile in her playing styles and can easily switch between the Indian and Western styles.

RAHUL SHIVAKUMAR
Rahul Shivakumar is a percussionist, drummer, and solo performer. He has been
schooled in both Carnatic rhythmic tradition and Western drums & percussions,
where the basic idea is all about creating magic with anything from exotic Darbuka
to clinical kitchen utensils like Biryani Kadai and Gobi Fry Pan. He has performed more than 500 concerts with Fantastic musicians like Arun Sagar, Vijay Prakash, Arjun Janya, Naveen Sajju, Raghu Dixit, B Jayshree, Sangeetha Katti, Chethan Naik, Ananya Bhagath, Chakravarti Sulibele, Ananya Bhat.

Roshe. I have heard most renditions of this song, so many many times that I know the lyrics by heart. But I don't know what they mean, and I have never tried to find out-on purpose. For moments like these. Right now, its Khalid's voice, Apoorvaand Rahul's expressions and the whole vibe.. that alone is giving the song its meaning. Its the same song but every version I listen to, has a different meaning. That's the magic of.. " I don't know what it means, but it sounds beautiful".

@@TheEngineersPick umm.. the translation is not literal, but yes, it conveys the message. For example, there's no mention of a cupid, because "Posh" means only a flower. Also, the line "kus vanye dyede te Babas" literally means "who's going to tell mother and father" whereas your translation was something totally different and incorrect - it was "I yearn a response from you".

Her husband our King, Yusuf Shah Chak was taken as a prisoner by the Mughal rulers before their invasion of Kashmir. This song mobilised Kashmiris to rebel and became part of our folklore.

Kashmir is blessed to have a singer-songwriter in Khalid Ahmad. The unfortunate thing is we have failed him as a community and so many other wonderful artists. Wow! The longingness and separation is so beautifully characterised...the long sustained notes in the singers voice ah as if it were that a real wailing heart! Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Just a minor observation...the violin when has long sustained version (like in the ending) so beautifully complements the mood...in other parts shorter notes/quick changes are slightly not matching for the mood...in general brings in contemporary touch which could have been avoided (just my feeling) And the instruments itself ...the loudness...if it could have be brought down a notch...and let the singers longing voice come through...it would have been magical i think (Just some feeling of a music lover..not an expert) 🙏🙏🙏🙏
