When indoors, you won’t have to worry as much about pests but Black Spot (a type of fungal disease) can occur. An easy way to treat this is by using a mixture of baking soda, liquid soap, and warm water (about 1 teaspoon of each to a few cups of lukewarm water). A powdery mildew can also form on the leaves, which can be easily fixed by providing more air circulation. Rosier Miniature Rose Take #2 😂

But seriously, other than aloe, Roses and I do not mix. This time I am DETERMINED to make this one thrive. After trial and error with Rosalita (RIP) I thinkkkkk I might have gotten it figured out.

Roses need A LOT OF LIGHT - preferably direct sun. However, now that a majority of houseplants are being brought indoors a south window will be the ideal spot. Make sure to consistently turn them for a full and luscious plant. If let outdoors, they are hardy from zones 5 to 9 (or 10, I forget) - which is hardier than most rose bushes.

For soil, I’d suggest a peat moss based variety - you’ll notice that most that you buy from a nursery are in this type of mixture.

Rosier Mini Roses do prefer their soil to stay moist but not wet. This could be where I messed up, because I foolishly kept it in the foil the grocery store had it in - which caused it to remain too wet and rotted their already shallow root system.

When it comes to fertilizing, do it sparsely during the winter and more often during the spring and summer months. They do have rose specific fertilizers which makes feeding so much easier.

Tip, there are certain types of miniature rose plants that do not exactly stay miniature. Some can stay “small,” or around 8-12 inches tall and wide but there are other varieties that can grow up to 7 or 8 feet if given the proper care and room.
