In 1996 I got married to my first husband and we drove from New Jersey to California with everything we owned in the back of a Jeep Cherokee when we got to California we already lost it after a few weeks driving safety and cross the country and we went inside a bunch of sleep for a couple hours so there's 3 a.m. we figured we'd be safe if we waited till about 6 daylight to open up the car and get all our stuff out things like our wedding presents our even our toothbrushes and underwear. We did ship some stuff but I mean we had everything else in that thing packed to the gills like a Tetris game. At 6:00 in the morning we went outside to unload Jeep found a window smashed and everything gone even our toothbrushes and underwear. San Diego Police department said welcome to California. I took what was left of our money I think it was maybe $200 and we went to Ross dress for less. the odd assortment of items in our cart the cashier's eyes as we got in line and she looked at us a little funny. Kind of embarrassed to explain why we were buying two toothbrushes two pairs of underwear each all the essentials and still trying to figure out how to get two plates two forks two knives etc. When we told the cashier our story she called the manager over and the manager on the spot gave us a $3,000 gift certificate to Ross dress for less. I will shop there every chance I get I don't care if they start selling only hula skirts and coconut bikini tops I'll go buy one of each to support this store because customer service was taken to a whole new level

Amazing!!! And I agree, that’s CA. It’s a trash state when it comes to car theft. My bff took her kids from NH to CA to show them where they lived when they were born and they left backpacks in the car when they went inside a restaurant for dinner. Came out and the rental’s window was broken and all bags gone, even the baby blankets. 😭😭

No, in the 80s you and everyone you knew where very careful about what they said. The people that you knew where your life, your job, your friends, the people at the store and bank knew who you where and what you "believed ". The 80s may sound like the great beyond but it was very much like a high school for years..and know that the same factors where prevalent in social status so you couldn't make a statement and have it be "moving", people just called you a nut job. It was a very conservative time, and that is not always good.

Not only do we have a racism problem, but it's also considered socially acceptable. In college, I was stunned how many people were openly racist toward white people. They target one specific race, but ironically believe that doesn't fit the definition of racism. Sad that we still don't all think of people as people.

Not saying all Southerners are stupid but.... my family moved back and forth between the north and south every year or two when I was growing up. When I got to the southern school, I was bored because I had already been taught that stuff the year before. I was given "special" assignments to keep busy. The following year, when I moved back north, I was hopelessly behind, and had to study a ton to pass the grade. This went on from first grade until high school. So yeah, most southerners are not that bright. Sorry.
