"Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude" by Ross Gay with Bon Iver, out now on Jagjaguwar.
STREAM / BUY: rossgay.ffm.to...
The story of Jagjaguwar is not about individuals or specific founders/history; it is about the worlds they build, often sharing and collaborating, creating art and community. Jagjaguwar was founded on that ethos, a set of principles that fosters artists' worldbuilding, and supports our many wizards as they create, interact, and grow.
Over the course of the year, JAG25 will feature unique works and collaborations from a sprawling list of artists -- many from outside the known family of Jagjaguwar artist partners, and many from other mediums. Join us as we reveal even more features of Jagjaguwar’s world, as we celebrate a quarter century of Jagjaguwar, and give thanks for the new one in the air.

I will never forget as I sat with the brilliant poet, Mrs. Marian Dornell, around age 75 at the time, on the campus of Dickinson College one brisk November, listening to Ross read this poem, trying not to giggle as Miss Marian whispered, "Thank you for being so fine..." LOL {~Maria James-Thiaw}

Stop making me cry, Ross! No don’t! I love your big, raw heart and this old world. You just made it new for me, this world, and now I know what to do. So THANK YOU for that. Much love.

This encapsulates the bipolarity of events we suffer through and celebrate. The murder of a friend can be celebrated by noticing how new life is born every day. There is ALWAYS something to be grateful for, even in the darkest of times. Thank you Ross, Justin, and the whole BI crew for this. Brought me to tears almost instantly.

Yea to Ross Gay...he is back; having thrived in his World of mindful appreciation of all those little things and, describing them with an articulate picture...he is staid, he lives on in our minds and redirects our attention to what is important; just in time, everlasting, we should hope ...

ODDLY ENOUGH, I Did not dig this as much as I certainly was bracing myself for when I saw one of my very favorite pieces by one of my very favorite poets ... I think it was the visuals, too much, maybe ... OR the way the words slammed on the screen a few at a time every couple of seconds ... (that’s it, the loud aggressive font) detracting from the mesmerizing lilt and purr of Ross’s delivery. Every-time I’ve heard Ross recite this piece ... or I read it (with his voice and cadence in my head), I well up and cry, I think maybe more each time, even now, these many years on, knowing the ground “we” are going to cover ... well, there, I’ve added my critique... I so dearly love this piece, ... is jarring (to me) to have MORE stimuli added to it. THAT, I think, is all I am really saying.

31/08/2022: ashmead's kernel, lemon balm, scarlet runner, fever few, false indigo, knit bone, sweet grass. Fiona and I went at it again yesterday, and it end with kneeling and sorry and gratitude. My body aches so completely as I write this, but I, too, am grateful. zinnia.

31/05/2023: I'm in Stratford writing this, my first trip for the magazine I started. the same one that ended with this poem in Issue 10. Thank you, Ross, for your time. That issue was nominated for best arts magazine in the country, there's a gala this Friday that I'll attending. I won't make a face when they don't call our name. Anyways, this month has been horrible, truly. But them's the breaks.

Just a comment to the video maker.: Ross Gays pronunciation is so clear these flashing bold words are totally unnecessary, and actually kind of kill the vibe of the video.
