Fun fact Stephanie heard John rapping freestyle with a bunch of other superstars on a bus, she stopped him and asked him to make up a rap about a few random items which he nailed. She then asked him if he wanted to do that on tv and the Dr of Thuganomics was born and saved his career.

The only reason Cena reached the top was because after 2 years of getting the Ultimate Push, Lesnar left the company high and dry with nothing. The company was also moving in a more PG direction due to the Benoit incident. Cena fit the pg mold perfectly.

What's funny is i go back and watch the segments and it looked like John had better lines, but Rock controlled the atmosphere better. This is when John looked like a heel. So, the build to each line John said, it was piqued with 4th wall break.

17:25 that’s one of the reasons I’m a big fan of John . I grew up with the super Cena and as a kid loved him , so I always loved Cena as a wrestler . But dude is generally one of the best ppl in not only wrestling but even in like hollywood because of this . Like he has like 700 make a wishes . And Ik like going to one isn’t that easy mentally too , seeing all those kids like that is kinda hard I’m assuming and yet he still goes cause he knows it’ll make the kids with cancer day alot better with what they been through

Unpopular opinion but this is why I prefer CM Punk over Stone Cold as a trash talker. If I’m being completely honest, I don’t get what you guys see in the “what? what? what?” responses, just comes across like someone who doesn’t actually have a good rebuttal but you guys were eating it up. WWE is scripted and unless Dwayne can talk about John’s backstage antics (which he can’t) there’s not much to say about someone who thrived off being the family friendly good guy with a clean reputation. John is also a hypocrite because he went the same route Dwayne did. It’s hilarious that people got mad at him for upgrading and doing better for himself because the wrestling industry is a terrible environment. It’s like the Kobe/Lebron arguments. But I understand America can be patriotic and you guys respect people aligning themselves with something and sticking with it.

People say that it's weird how close a wrestler became to not being a huge name, possibly fired. But you gotta realize that happens ALL the time. There is a universe in which Owen Hart, John Morrison, Brian Pillman, Carlito, Gail Kim, Rick Rude are all HUGE stars. But not in ours, all because of bad luck, circumstances, motivation, or timing. In those universes, John Cena probably DID get fired. Maybe Stone Cold did as well....

John easily won in their battle of promos. I disagree in saying he was getting cooked. The crowd was behind the rock because he’s the rock but John was easily had all the better promos. The rock had to stick to his regular shtick and calling him childish names. And there were lines he used that I didn’t even know about until later on. For Example calling out the rock on his breast surgery. And seeing that the rock needed his promo lines on his wrist already shows who the better one is. And I think WWE goes out of business if Cena doesn’t work out.

When I first seen that promo between Rock and Cena I was 13 years old. Not knowing too much about the business of wrestling at that time, I really just thought Cena cooked Rock, and I’m Cena fan so I was super bias with Cena at that time 🤣. I know better now though 😂. But looking at it now, it’s crazy how everything played out.

Yeah, John Cena needed something to even that playing field during that feud because it was so one sided for so long. Also, Rock was building up the feud on social media when he wasn't there & there was a promo Rock did on Facebook that never made it to TV because it would have made Cena look bad. While that remark did level the playing field somewhat, he went about it the wrong way & should have approached it from a different way, as John admits in the video. Also the A&E documentary goes into greater detail on this feud, which is recommended to watch to get the full context
