Great interview. Myponga is one place I know very well. I grew up in Normanville, 17km south of Myponga. You should go look at it now. A lot has changed.

Music still stands up well, I think Ross and the band do it even better now. Nothing gets people on the dance floor better than Eagle Rock and the many Daddy cool songs.

Saw Daddy Cool playing Eagle Rock, opening for Captain Beefheart in Long Beach, CA in the very early 70s. Great song, great show! Glad to see Ross is so healthy and happy now.

We danced to ball in the Jack in primary school but dancing to Eagle Rock was a whole different and much more exciting form of dancing its a brilliant song that has me on my feet the minute the rift starts

Old enough to remember when it was number 1 on the charts for about 10 weeks. Unofficial National Anthem. Australia's greatest ever song.

Nice interview. Great to see this great Aussie song's origins being explained first hand. Always wondered if there were any other songs recorded for the first DC Lp that weren't released.

I was 11 when pink album came out. My big brother had the album, and I loved it. I wanted to take to school but absolutely no go with the big brother. I put on a real tantrum and one night dad came home with my own copy of the album, I thougt I was the coolest kid in town. I took it to school, and of course it got scratched, like all albums in those days. I loved the band, and all the songs, got every Daddy Cool record after that. I was too young to go to shows so I never saw them live. I will go to some of the Daddy Cool anniversary shows, to celebrate some of the Australia's best music.

Ross probably knows this; "Dossa and Joe" was a 2002 television comedy series made by Granada Australia, for BBC 2, starring Anne Charleston and Michael Caton. Episode 3 featured a scene with Michael Caton making breakfast in their kitchen when Eagle Rock comes on the radio. Joe immediately turns the radio up and dances around and sings along to the song. They played most of the track, fading out as Joe dances into the bedroom. I wondered, at the time, if they were subliminally promoting the song in the UK. Maybe the producers just loved the song like the rest of us! Should have been a world wide hit and maybe it will be someday. Who knows.

Ross and Eric McCusker came to a music shop at Kew, Victoria many years ago to show how he wrote “Eagle Rock” and the sponsor was Gibson, but Ross kept telling everyone how great the Fender guitars were. It was fascinating how Ross explained they way he wrote that song. This video is very interesting. I can see Ross has lots of clothes in his home and two shelves of shoes that he wears, but I have never seen him wearing this high heels 👠 on stage when he was doing live gigs! It’s interesting what Ross says about Australia Day and Captain Cook, plus I almost forgot that in the early days Ross almost looked like a typical hippie and had a beard and long hair. Now he looks totally different with a white beard and shorter hair. Will he grow his hair long again or wear a wig to look like he used to look back then?

Ross wears a lot of high heel shoes by the look of his room, so it’s gonna be a glam band? I always thought DC were more rootsy..but whatever.

Nice shoes Ross ! Do you still wear them on stage these days ?

From playing stinking hot outdoor festivals which those who went to those concerts shared the same experiences watching the Sunbury festivals you get an understanding of that living on cheap food and getting sun burn flies mosquitoes and filthy toilets
