Im a big fan of .22 pumps and I recently bought the wood version Rossi. Took it to the range and it functioned perfectly. No need to press the slide lock with every shot. When I picked it up at my local gun store the action was pretty stiff but quickly loosened up and works great now. I also have a Henry pump that I’ve owned for a few years now. The Henry is beautifully made USA quality but honestly I prefer the Rossi for the target/plinking that I like to do. The Henry weighs significantly more and its slide action is a little stiffer. The full buckhorn sights on the wood version Rossi are robust metal and very nice. The Rossi trigger, trigger guard, butt plate, barrel band, and knob on the magazine tube are poly but the rest is all metal and wood.

I had to adjust the sight in the back to my liking, but the rest was just fine. Shorts is all I see as the other to fit this gun, since the 22 Long not Long Rifle is not really made anymore. @@SmallCaliberArmsReview I have had the best sucess with the CCI standard velocity 22 LR or this hollow point 22L R Armscor stuff that is really cheap using a few before I got my own of the Armscor ammo that is one of the less known but better ammo for 22 LR. Remmington Thunderbolt in the 500 round box tends to be a bit dirty in all 22 guns. Maybe some other 22 LR Remmington 22 ammo is better as I have seen with my dads gun using some 100 round box but I have some of the Remmington Thunderbolt knowing I will after 100--200 rounds lube & clean my gun. @@SmallCaliberArmsReview CCI Has been my favorite type of ammo for 22 LR/22 Short and Win Mag 22 for my Keltec PMR 22 Win Mag as I had some other more expensive ammo that was 38 grain bullets the recoil get stuck when my 22 from CCI standard load that was 30 never did, the Keltec PMR should use 22 Win Mag that is 40 or more grains. My Dads old Remmington or Winchester I forget 22 bolt tube mag from the 1960's that shoots 22 short, 22 long, and 22 long riffle ran fine after but was so off it needed cleaning from the entire Remington Thunderbolt box my dad was using with just starting a 500 box of Aguilla 22 LR rounds that were copper covered with hollow nose inside. I got one of the Remmington 500 Thunderbolt for just under $30 before tax in either late 2021 or early 2022. Yes they did double but before the panic buying, they were $18 to $20 in my area so not too different now. The Armscor was the big jump from right at about $2.00 to $3.00--$4.00 depending on where you buy them in town.

I picked my new Rossi Gallery gun up today, I cleaned all the factory lube off and out of it. Then lubed it up with Ballistoll, Then I spent 20 minutes just working the action, I do this with all my new guns, really helps to loosen and break in the action and helps to get familiar with the gun, After all that I shot 150 rounds, no malfunctions of any kind, the gun operated great with 4 different types of ammo brands, standard LR to high velocity. 36 grain HP to 40 Round nose, I'm all out of shorts but hopefully I can find some more sooner than later and try shooting them in it. At the end of the day I would recommend buying this gun this or the wooden version. It's not a Henry pump action or my Remington Model 12. But for the smaller sticker price I'd say it's worth it. It's fun none the less and accurate. it will be great for plinking or small game hunting, or a knock around truck gun, that's just my opinion Great video...

Thank you for the great video . I purchased the wooden furniture Gallery 01/11/2022. What a fun little rifle 😊. Problems? Yes. When I load 15 rds in the tube, it will misfire the 2nd or 3rd shot, every time. After that it fires as should. I never have to pull the action release. So, I decided to load just 12 into the tube. I’ve fired three 12 rd tubes without a hiccup. Then I tried 15 again, and it misfired on the 2nd shot, then all the rest fine . I called Rossi & talked with a technician. She said I could send it in, I said I don’t like that idea. Another technician got involved & said to exercise the spring. He said most likely the spring is too tight. Which I have been doing. I’ve also cleaned the dirty gun. And have been working the action. Hopefully all will work itself out soon. However, let me say this: I like this little gun so much, that if i am destined to live with a 12 rd load, I will still be happy. Also, knowing I am not a great shooter, 75 with bad eyes, I found this rifle very accurate from 30 yards out. While standing up, my worst grouping was 5.5” by 7”. At my age, with a new gun, I’ll take that. Richard, thanks again for your wonderful video . I like all of your videos.

But after watching this video and seeing how you have to push the slide release before loading a round kind of makes me unsure about purchasing one... Of course it's not advised, but I wonder if the slide release can be removed in order for it to work without using it? Also, since I enjoy working with wood, Im wanting to make a walnut stock and forend for the gallery gun. Im not sure how the forend comes off as of yet. Does it have screws holding it in place or does the magazine have to be dismantled in order to remove the forend? Thanks

European legislation forbids more than 10 rounds in the tube (in C category which is easy to buy, you can big with more ammo but then it's category B) and the 10 limit would be based on 22 short if they write that it can takes them, so writing only 22LR allow to put more ammo in EU and it's a big selling point (all the Pumps are modified in EU so that ammo is limited to 10 - the same model in the US will often take more ammo)

Back in the 1960’s, when I was a young teenager, I learned to shoot using a pump gallery gun using 22 shorts when the carnival came to town every August. One year, the carney guy paid me to help him pack up on Saturday night when the carnival left town. I earned back some of my paper route money I spent. I have been thinking of getting a pump action gallery gun. Originals like I used back in the day are a bit pricy. I have seen these Rossi’s but they seem flimsy. I am thinking of maybe getting a Henry even though they are twice the price.
