enjoyed the video and thanks for using several manufacturers . Its been my experience on my rifles that the groups will tighten up after the barrel gets dirty , would be interesting if you went back to the first round you tested and tried it before cleaning your rifle.

Good video! Very well done. It seems like no one wants to shoot for accuracy anymore and I am glad to see someone bucking the "ringing steel" mold. I might have to try some of those rounds. But my 16" barrel Tipple X Rossi shoots sub MOA with the 150gr Rem Core-Lokt. And with a low powered thick reticle scope to boot. The 170gr looked like your first group. 160gr LeverEvolution not good either. I reload anyway, but I like to try to match velocity, bullet weight and profile as close as I can to something that shoots well. And as far as I know Core-Lokt bullets aren't available anymore. The Rossi R95 is a winner in my book. A 20" wood furniture is in my future. Subscribed. Keep 'em coming.

I just got the R95 trapper and I’m floored by how well it shoots. I kept iron sights on mine and it absolutely loves the 160 grain FTX over leverevolution powder. I’m not really a fan of short barrels so I didn’t have much hope for it (it was a gift) but I quickly changed my tune after shooting it.
@pacanis7 ай бұрын
@@nortah Nice. I almost pulled the trigger on one in 45-70 earlier this week... but the very lightly used Henry 45-70 with 18" barrel won out. If the Henry hadn't been a side gate model I would have had another Rossi R95.

Pretty good shooting at 100. I saw others mention retesting the first two especially since they did so well at 50. You mentioned a vast improvement. Everything was minute of deer and the last 4 were good enough that people shooting a bolt action rifle would be happy with those results. I’m excited to get my R95 in 360 Buckhammer and do something similar

Would have been nice to see you shoot the Remington or the Blue box again. I was wondering if the Barrel fouling was improving the accuracy.

...or the shooter was getting more comfortable with his setup?

Doesn't changing the setting on the telescope potentially affect the point of impact? The Remington and Blue should have been re-tedted with the new setting and also the barrel would have warmed up by then? Just asking? 😮

Finally......someone who knows how to sight in a rifle. There is a Rossi M95 in the local pawn shop here where I live. This is great info to know. More fouling and the rifle will probably shoot even better. I have a Marlin 336XLR and took a 10pt this past season in Mason, Tx using the Hammer Down ammo. My rifle shoots it really good too. Thanks for sharing.

I think I would have to shoot the 150 gr Rem & Fed Power Shok (blue box) again just to make sure since those were your first two shots. Also, be careful with the Hammer Down & Fusion ammo because if I'm not mistaken I believe they are a bonded bullet. Not saying they aren't good loads but with 30-30 velocities Id be concerned with their expansion, and possibly not having good blood trails. I would have to lean towards the Winchester XP or the Rem 170 gr loads if the other two don't group better. Been considering a Rossi myself, thanks for posting

So it looks like the Rossi may have a faster twist rate and so it's going to like heavier bullets or the higher velocity bullets in the 150 grain. It'll be interesting to do with a chronograph to verify this.

I tried 170 grain, and it did not group as well as the 150 grains, I also tried the 160 grain, and it did not like those either. It seemed to like the 150 grains in various brands.

@sprucehilloutdoors5 ай бұрын
@@Randy-rdss thanks for watching, actually the Federal Blue Box was the cheapest. Winchester would be the second cheapest but the Winchester xp ammo is reported to have terrible performance when shot into a deer. The bullets fragment and do not retain there weight causing some animals to be lost due to the performance. However the Winchester power point does very well so I might try those yet.
