How could 27 people dislike this wonderful composition and performance? The conductor, the orchestra, the chorus and the soloists gave a thrilling reading of this piece. And it being found in this section of You Tube the listeners knew it was classical sacred music. How could anyone not love it?

Stabat Mater is a work by Gioachino Rossini based on the traditional structure of the Stabat Mater sequence for chorus and soloists. It was composed late in his career after retiring from the composition of opera. He began the work in 1831 but did not complete it until 1841.

I think Andrés Orozco-Estrada is here showing his credentials as one of today's best young conductors. The soloists are o.k., except for the soprano who I think is very good, but overall no match for those on the Pappano/Santa Cecilia Orch. recording.

Why do today's tenors have no ring in their voice? They did in previous generations.
@jimdrake-writer5 жыл бұрын
Here, the acoustical imbalance between the orchestra and soloists (whom the orchestra dominates) make it difficult to assess how much “ping” Angelini has. He sang the “Cujus” in key but unlike Pavarotti and others, he did not hold the high D-flat beyond what the score specifies, so it’s hard to tell how well his voice “rings.”
@shirleyrombough81733 жыл бұрын
It's hard to tell, given the acoustics of this venue, according to the next contributor. That has to be considered. The duet with alto and soprano was beautiful. They were equal in beauty of tone, musicianship and expressiveness. I loved the whole thing.

Tenore Angelini. "Cuius animam gementem contrisTATAM... ", e no contrisTANTEM". Comunque bravo !

Excitingly conducted. *Rebeka* and *Angelini* and orchestra are truly excellent. The mezzo is very mediocre and Spotti, although he has a fine bass, is terribly boring. Considering that "Pro peccatis" is such a magnificently beautiful aria he manages to sound like he is reading a laundry list. How can one make so little of such glorious music??

Escutem Giulini….
