Hello everyone, thank you for joining us.
We felt the it was very important to make this video so that you can understand if the massive change of moving abroad and purchase property in an Italian small town or village is for you.
On this video, we compare our current life, living in a hilltop town in the South of Italy, to our previous life in Brisbane, Australia.
We discuss all, or most things that we did back in Australia, and how that compares to trying to do the same things here.
I hope you enjoy this episode, as always please let us know what you think in the comments.

Thank you for all this wonderful information! Thanks to your terrific videos, Molise is now an area we’re interested in for our Italian holiday/retirement home. We’d like to buy a place in the next year or so - hopefully sooner rather later. Love that you are so close to the sea!

Great video, Fiorella! When we had our house in Molise, we never felt isolated, in spite of living in a tiny village. Compobasso was only 20 minutes away. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, little to no crime and wonderful neighbors. You and Aden are very fortunate living in Montecilfone. So happy for you!

Great video - very helpful to do our own comparisons of time. One thing about the ATM at the posta italiana: we have used their ATM with our N26 card, with our Wise card and even with our North American bank card and in each case, we successfully withdrew 200€ and we don’t have an account with Posta Italiana. Post pandemic, I find we are using cash very rarely in North America but it is still very much worthwhile having currency in small-town Italy.

Ciao Fiorella! I know exactly what you mean as we also have such a convenient little village with everything within minutes. In Sydney, I have to get in a car and drive constantly, in bad traffic as well, most of the time! If I get in the car in Tuscany to drive somewhere, it's stunning views and no traffic basically...what a difference! I love it and prefer to deal with individual shop owners than shop in huge shopping malls! It's a far more personal experience in my opinion. Great video! 🥰😍🤗😘

Hi Rene, it depends. Optic Fibre has arrived to our town but we haven't tried it. We tether from our phones and it has worked for us very well to work, to stream television, etc. As each town may have different reception Vodafone, TIM, Iliad are good websites to check for cover.

One more question. How easy it would be to rent a little house in one of these small towns for a period of 6 months? We are planning to live in Italy for at least 2 years, but staying every 6 months in a different area of the Country, and exploring the specific region from there. By the way. Your videos are REALLY good. Very well done.

Hi Claudiano, short term rentals are not easy to come by unless they're on places like booking.com or Airbnb. Perhaps try the big realestates as they may have a big pool of rentals

This is so Spooky, you literally lived a few kilometers from me in Brisbane, I probably would have passed you guys at the shops. I used to live at Yeronga on the street behind the pie shop opposite the railway station. My family is from Molise but I am looking at buying in the North near Bergamo because I am worried the internet will not be that good in the Molise region as I work in IT and need good internet. How are the internet speeds where you live ?

LOL that's so funny Shaun! We used to go the pie shop on Sundays for breakfast. I'm missing their chunky stake and pepper pie 🥧 so much! Please don't disregard other areas of Italy but if you do like an area check if they have fiber. We have installed Fiber recently and it's the fastest we've ever had, even in OZ. I just did a speed test and got 581Mbps Download and 185 Mbps Upload. I should be doing a video about it soon :)

Very informative. For me it is more complicated. I am single and speak no Italian. There are difference comparisons for this situation. I know I could do all of my shopping and the like but would I have friends?
@rossinniandco
@rossinniandco Жыл бұрын
Hi Eric. I think it depends on where you go and how you open yourself to the people in the community you choose to live in. It is said that people in the South of Italy are warmer and the people in the North more closed off. I guess it goes with the territory of having bigger cities, plus their cultural background is different. I think speaking Italian does help, but a good attitude can be translated to any language 😉

Exactly what I was thinking. Why would you move from Australia and go to all the trouble of citizenship. I was born in Italy and left when I was 8 years old so don’t remember much. It is a beautiful country and I could easily live there very well with all my years of work (over 43 years) and still working. I don’t think I could ever get accustomed to that life coming from the US but then again I could be wrong. When you’ve lived in one place for so many years, it’s hard to go back besides I would never leave my children and hopefully grandchildren in the future.

Half the people I know wishing to buy a 2nd home in Italy are aware they are greatly restricted by the amount of time they're allowed to stay in a schengen area. Most people from the UK are allowed 3 months in Italy and then they need to leave for six months before they can return. Which isn't perfect. How are you coping coming in from Australia?

Hi Claudiano. There is free parking near the train station in Termoli. You can identify free parking as the lines are white instead of blue. Blue parking is metered so you have to pay and place the ticket on the window.

@rossinniandco
@rossinniandco Жыл бұрын
Hi Tati. It depends on your lifestyle and what your kids are used to. Do they enjoy big malls, concerts, etc? If so, they may get bored as in the area there aren't big shopping centres like the ones we are used to. Concerts and many activities are usually more frequent in the summer months. We don't have kids and we like a quieter lifestyle while still being connected so it works for us.
