They only operate in national waters for the most part. Being armed in international waters without being recognized as a member of a national military or police force (or paramilitary or what-have-you) is an act of piracy. I used to work in admin when I was a student for a PMC that specialized in hostage return after ransoms were paid. It was a weird job, but I learnt some cool things. There are huge grey areas, but if you are caught armed in international waters by most navies they will detain you.
@nightwraith19865 жыл бұрын
@@snow49032 Wrong im afraid snow. Merchants ships are allowed to carry armed guards and small arms in International waters, and territorial waters that allow it. The reason they dont is that it would require a massive amount of paperwork, insurance documents etc... Every single merchant ship should have armed private security. The problem is they only accept (understandably) ex-special forces ideally or military at the very least. @StepByStepStudio5 жыл бұрын
@thematic That's answered my question. YOU don't get it you thick fuck. I really try with know-it-all's like yourself but you'll never learn. So, I never said they don't have permission, but this is only in territorial waters (not sure where you got the term 'host nation', and this territorial water that nations own only stretches for a measly 12 nautical miles. After that (So 99% of a ships journey) is in whats called International Waters, where what's known as Maritime Law is in place. NO ONE owns this water. They have their own set of rules and laws. Why do you think L.Ron Hubbard set sail to sea when the IRS was hunting him down for tax evasion? Because his country couldn't do shit, because he wasn't in their waters, meaning he didn't have to abide by their laws. Sunk in yet?

Ross: As you can see, we're currently using a VPN to direct our traffic towards another country while we penetrate the soft underbelly of the Pirate Bay. This torrent, currently has 100 leechers but more terrifying is the fact that there are approximately 700 seeders for the Hollywood movie, the Joker. We know that Pirates like to shadow vulnerable Hollywood movies, but we had no idea how deep these events go. Early the next morning, we looked at our Australian internet speed at noticed that we're at 4% and headed for completion in approximately 47 days.

edit: no disrespect to those poor bastards on the MV Saldanha. If only the shipping world had less human rights and crew were able to defend themselves by killing more of these fuckers at sea.

Funny how we’ve come from sinking great naval battleships in WW2 to barely being able to sink a Somalian pirate’s fishing boat.
@Captaindudething5 жыл бұрын
Funny? I highly doubt a single one of their bullets would have missed a 50,000 tonne battleship let alone a bloody boat no better than a dingy, cop on. It's not exactly a combat situation that requires you to kill the enemy before he kills you, is it? If there were pirates firing back I guarantee you shots on target would be far more precise
@joecon01125 жыл бұрын
The pirates had hostages and if they shot they would shoot the people

The coastal Somali's were principally fisherman until vast factory ships, often Russian, devastated the fish stocks in their region. They took to piracy to feed themselves and families, just like most men would do. Two sides to every story.

If you were a farmer and down the street a better farm opens and your customers go there your first reaction shouldn't be to take the farmer and his family hostage and use them as a bargaining chip.

@@ConscriptGaming1991 shit analogy. If you're a farmer and a massive, armed combine harvester comes and robs all your crop over and over what the fuck else do you do
@ConscriptGaming19914 жыл бұрын
roverr maybe that isn’t a good analogy either because the fishing vessels stole nothing they took advantage of rich fishing grounds if someone came into the industry you work in and set up a company that does better than yours because it’s say more technologically advanced you get work elsewhere or go down with your company or possibly compete but you don’t walk down the street and grab a random guy and take him hostage for money and say it’s the only way to make money because it’s not sourcing the firepower boats and men to do such a thing is far harder than finding other work

@@ConscriptGaming1991 Nope. The ships illegally fished in Somali waters. They had no right to intrude and steal the livelihoods of the fishermen of Somalia

@Duner250R basically means your joints extend a bit further than normal which means it's easier to get injured BUT if you build yourself up and your muscles around your joints, then it basically eliminates the getting injured part, which i'm doing, so gonna try and join and convince them that i'm fit for service and training, just gotta show them i'm okay enough to be in, but sadly gonna be hard, everyone gets it at different levels, some gets it rlly bad and can easily dislocate everything and some ppl get it where they don't even realise, i'm basically down there, doesn't rlly have an effect on me so now gonna try and join because i can't not try you know, try and convince them i'll be okay and see what they say, but yeah, no cure, no one really figured anything out with it, i had to figure out the muscle building thing myself believe it or not but it does work!😂

My question if the ship is too dangerous to board with hostage, then why not track the ship with UAV to it's destination and have a strike team to rescue to hostages. And they will have the drop. Better yet foolow the group to find the source. AC-130. Done.

Unless you are a naval captain, in the military, specialise in anti piracy or hostage rescue and you’re typing this from the comfort of your home with your standard civilian job, you have absolutely no right right to say that they are doing the wrong thing and what they could be doing differently. If you want to, join the Navy, join the special forces, and say it to their face. I’d like to see you do better before you somehow criticise thinking somehow you know better. (not my comment)
