The Bob Ross of fixing computers. Though we’re few who love these videos, they are greatly appreciated. If you stop this type of video, I’d just have to watch reruns of your older videos over and over

Even if Louis repeat the same repair on similar machines, his saltiness & topics of the day varies. It never gets old, but Apple product defects are a bit long on the tooth.

I think the donation about the guy who became an engineer and suddenly understood the value of what you're talking about with regards to right to repair, is likely sincere. I am one among many among your subscribers who never even considered right to repair as an issue, I was completely unaware that people are actually trying to take that right away from us and always just assumed it was obviously a right we have. It was uncomfortable but necessary to come to realize through your videos that we don't have a RIGHT to repair currently, we have a privilege, sometimes. What's uncomfortable about that is that there's a philosophical implication that naturally follows - if we don't have a right to repair things we own, then it means we don't own them 100%. If the companies can intervene in our right to exercise ownership through modification and maintenance, then we're not fully owning the things we buy, we're effectively just renting them.

It still amazes me that Louis can rapid fire off the code name/numbers for the components so accurately what seems like every time. He either has a very sharp memory for his "advanced age" or he has done this so many times now it is engrained into his very soul. Keep up the wonderful work Louis, I may not have the time to watch every single board repair video but I do enjoy them!

Louis, you have mentioned that people don't really seem to care much about the videos you make on mac repair. I just want to let you know that for many of us, this is not the case. I was never hitting the bell when I subscribe, so I only got what KZbin thought was popular. I have since remedied this, and look forward to all your future mac repair videos, regardless of their frequency of posting! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us!

We would have heavy wire to wire faults on copper phone cable network a/c 52 voltage . Very hard to locate position and would create contact to other pairs that was also hard to find . I later learnt it would be disguised by house phones capacitors so they had to be isolated first . But the way to discover them is testing all cables in their sizes from the pillar looking for groups of faults in 10 pair wide selections . It was a days good hunting them down

I wish there was a job that told me what to solder where. I'm great on the bench and love soldering. It's the EE knowledge I'm just not getting to my own satisfaction. Been practicing with Ipods because I at least break even on them. Only make money on the large ones. Having trouble finding some of the parts though. Wish that digikey site was easier to search. Need the 15 pin LCD flex connector. About 50 of them. I know they are on the site because I found them once.

You should not rely so much on that Ohms measurement being 160 Ohms. A resistor has a constant resistiance, as long as you don't blow it up. But a "shorted"/bad capacitor has no reason to have a constant resistance. It might have 160 Ohms at the particular current, your DMM is putting out to measure it. But it might have a totally different resistance, once you actually put 5 V on it.

I have a MacBook Pro. Cat spilled h2o on it and it no longer boots. Less than a year old. Apple won’t fix for less then the cost of new MacBook so being electrical engineers we open it to try to gently remove corrosion. We gently brush ICs with soft brush and resistors start coming off. We turn them over and they are missing solder to hold them on board. Don’t know how it ever worked but really! Apple wouldn’t support because we opened. We stopped touching it but I’m sure more will come off. Worse than crappy work. Need to find schematic may give it a try fixing.

I have a similar problem with my board. 5.2V and 10mA. USB C Port Controller is getting 2.8V from PP3V3_G3H. Would you say that there's a short somewhere on that line or the U6990 is malfunctioning (yes it is enabled at 4.8V and diode output is constant at 4V) or there's a problem with the USB C Port Controller? Any leads would be appreciated.
