@@RossReviewsau ....oh yeah. The TS is based on the Fairmont hence the more classy interior. I wanted one but I was not in the financial position. I did have an AU3 SR Falcon that I thought about putting on a TS/TE body kit as well as mags but I sold the car, which was a top highway cruiser. Awesome comfort. I have gone up and down the Stuart Highway a few times. In a Corolla, 97 Camry V6, Falcon, Mitsubishi DB2 380 SX....that was nice and this last week in my Kia Optima for which I have done the Stuart Highway (and connecting highways) to Darwin and south down to Adelaide and Port Lincoln a few times. But being in central Oz and want to do a grand fishing tour, it maybe time to get a ute. Though I'd still love to buy an FGX XR6 non-turbo.

I have a te50 t3, narooma blue, so i suppose biased. I love the look of these t3 but also acquired one simply due to the low numbers and uniqueness. Just to cover, last windsor blocks imported to australia, only hand built bored blueprinted balanced and signed engines made by ford, fastest pushrod v8 ever made by ford inc the phase 3, lowest body kit ever approved by ford in the world, last tickfords made, 1st ford with brembo brake package and a sweet ride to match. And what an engine note! Unique, rare and good a great moment in Australian car manufacturing thats now lost forever!

The Au is awesome, I own one in the 6. I've owned all the E series models of the single overhead cam and I am so impressed with the Au. I've owned mine for 7 years, been very happy with it. Pros: nice wide car, some serious space inside, nice big wheels standard, very comfortable and quiet. The dash is not cluttered and it has easy to work controls. Materials used are higher quality than newer imported junk. I drove a kia hire car once, and it felt like it had a lawn mower engine in it compared to my Au 6, and it was so cramped inside. A very underrated model the Au, some further refinements of the earlier ones.

Another enjoyable review. As a teenager who some how supported Ford during the AU-era, I'd agree that this was the most special AU ever made. The AU2+ XR8 was decent but these were the first AU series that properly took it up to the HSVs. Interesting about the reason for the name as I'd always wondered what it stood food. Pity they didn't call it the TS56, though. (oh and I agree that the AU1 was hideous but slowly improved with AU2 and AU3. It was never beautiful but it ended up looking OK)

Great review Ross. I think another reason why the T3 handle so good compared to the BA boss (other than the better suspension and IRS) is that the stroker engine is lighter and sits a lot lower in the engine bay and also pushed further back towards the rear of the car, making it almost mid-engine compared to the BA.

G'day Jon again......LOVE THE AU....They have become one of the great Falcons ...They have character , they have a 'up yours' attitude to the detractors and they have stood the test of time better than most other models . I recall seeing a dyno test of a TS 50 V8 a while back and some of the U.S comments made you think that they believed the AU was current when it had been out of production then by about a decade . The 4.0 inline 6 is essentially unkillable too . They torture it time and again and it just keeps going . .Thanks so much ..

Would they have droped the radio contol on the steering wheel, cause it was a more sport version? Or was the TE a sport version too?
@RossReviewsau3 жыл бұрын
both the TE and TS where sport versions but technically i think they tried to make the TS more sporty lol but they are the same car basically.. TS just gets some options as standard where the TE has to upgrade them

Yeah it's a bit hard to say how good the interior is when it still has a taxi roof lining

People crap on about the roof lining ! the factory production technique for roof linings were the same for Holden & Ford , they cut it at the edge of the moulding , when you get it repaired ( properly ) they will remove the whole foam shell , spray glue the fabric & WRAP it around the edges , problem solved & will never happen again & it’s not that expensive to get done . As for the rest of the au falcons interior being a weap point , well I can say bs to that , my au taxi pack wagon 2000 , so 20 years old & never been garaged has stood the test of time much better than my missus bf taxi pack wagon , the dash in mine has never been protected & not split or buggered from the sun ( mates prado garaged & not as old cracked right down the middle ) & the au doesn’t have those stupid vinyl wrapped spears like the bf on the door cards & shifter surround that wrinkle with exposure to sun , or stupid easily broken lift top drink holder , or silver painted plastic insert above the icc screen that wears off , the list goes on , the au not as fancy inside but far more robust , give me that au te50 any day over a b series Gt at twice the money any day of the week , as Ross discovered & not confined to te50 au has better steering feel albeit a bit light , makes it feel like your driving a smaller car & more connected to the road even in taxi pack wagon configuration & that te50 double wishbone rear end far better than the irs in b series on , I also own a ba g220 fairlane & I’d swap it & it’s weak plastic interior for the te50 every day , with cash adjust the te’s way of course !
