This Corvette was a joy to polish and ceramic coat -- and in this video, we take you along for the ride!
We show you how to use a rotary, paired with our Rotary Jeweling Pad, for that ultimate BOOST in gloss. Polishing is also a great way to clean the paint -- an essential step for any ceramic coating. Coatings want clean paint (they don't care about scratches) but polishing is often the best way to clean and shine up paint prior to ceramic coating application.

The color of this Vette is starting to grow on me. I love the efficiency of the gold standard polish system as it makes life easier. The ceramic coating looks fantastic with tons of gloss and depth. The Vette is going to drive faster now! Thank you DIY crew for all you do!

I want to tell you guys how much I love your channel! I have watched Ivan for years on his various endeavors and I'm so happy both of you started DIY Detail! Both of you have an amazing chemistry. I love your enthusiasm and how you take us through your processes step by step without all the flash, antics and nonsense of other channels. That said I placed an order for your polish, red waffle rotary pads plus some other stuff. I have been detailing for 20 years mostly with DA's. Well thanks to Ivan I put aside my fear and purchased a Rupes rotary and followed his rotary method to the letter. I used your polish and red waffle pad and let me tell you....I have never seen such an incredible shine after polishing my restored 69' Corvette Stingray. Absolutely smooth as glass and the depth makes the clear look like its two inches thick!!. And for the first time I have not seen a hint of haze or holograms out in the direct sun. That speaks volumes! I followed your advice on frequent pad washing with the Lake Country pad washer, the simple spritz of polish on the pad and got amazing results. Less is more! You guys have really knocked it out of the park! I wish you all continued success! You have definitely got me as a customer from here on out!

Don’t hesitate to use ceramic coating on sinks, appliances, lawn mowers, blowers. Toilets, especially for the misses on the toilet seats and the entire surface stays slick and glossy. Shower doors too.

Is there a limit to how long you can leave the Gold Standard Polish residue on the paint? Over the years of using Optimum Hyper Polish I've learned to wipe off after I'm done with the panel (or potentially after every 2 panels), as it seems to somehow etch the paint surface if left on too long.

Yvan, In this video towards the end, you discussed "doubling up" the coating on some areas like the mirrors and front bumper with extra left over coating. What is the time frame to double up? Is it the same as doing the stack? Wait two hours and no longer than eight for the second doubling up coat?

Rotation is rotation. Comfort, noise, vibration and durability all are variables that change with quality. 400-800rpm is the sweet spot.

Another great video guys! You mentioned when stacking wait 2 hrs but after 8 your window of opportunity to stack has passed. Can you please speak more to that? Can I apply the five year this year and then next year after a decon wash and clay and panel prep will the 3yr not stick? If so what about ceramic gloss? Thanks for your thoughts in advance 😎

The DIY Stack (3 over 5 or 8year) is a chemical reaction that happens when the 2 are combined on the surface in the prescribed time. Adding the 3 year several months later will not give you the same results.

On the DIY Detail website it says that the 8 year coating contains Polysiloxane but I've heard you say that all your coatings contain Polysilazane. The website also doesn't list the 3 and 5 year coatings containing Silicon Carbide. I've heard you mention that all your coatings contain Polysilazane, Silicon Carbide, Silicon Dioxide and Silicon Nitride and then the 3 year also having Graphene Oxide. I'm just curious about which one is right. I'm guessing what you've said in your videos is accurate? Out of curiosity, what chemical makeup did your original exterior ceramic coating contain? How would you rank it against the current line? Thanks!

Great video guys! Thanks for the content. I’m still saving for a rotary but I’m keen on quietness!! The new Rupes DA might have to jump the queue! 😀 I have a question that might make a good future video. It is getting cold in the UK. How can I protect my chemicals that I keep in my garage? Move them into the loft which is warmer? Wrap them in drying towels to insulate them? Store them in an insulated bag? Many thanks! Bri. 👍

If you can, buy a popular, inexpensive car that could use a good detail. Detail it, practice on it and resell it. If not get a scrap panel from a body shop or recycler.

I just bought a new car which the dealership had already waxed. I would like to apply your three year coating. I assume that I must remove the wax first. I do not want to have to polish; so how should I remove the wax? How will I know that I was successful at removing all the wax?
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately polishing is the only sure way to remove it. If you want to try chemicals, wash the car, then foam on DIY Detail All Clean at 15/1, rinse, then apply DIY Detail Water Spot Remover, agitate, dwell, rinse. Finally DIY Detail Iron Remover agitated with the Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel . Rinse and if you have no beading, then dry, and finish with DIY Detail Panel Prep

A few reasons, spraying any chemical on a dry surface can cause spotting. Secondly it’s a very inefficient way to use it buy spraying and wiping.
