Rotary Stick Shifted Datsun Dominating at Street Races!!

In this video we have a rotary stick shifted datsun which is a type of car that is not typical in a street raced car. But this isnt your typical street race as it took place at the okie raceway in a airstrip where the surface was ashpalt. Not often that I root for both people in the race to win. Love the 1.3L of angry rotary and the "if it's not blown, it sucks" rat rod pickup. Such a refreshing change from all the cookie cutter, hum drum turbo LS1 Fox body builds that are everywhere.

@Dave Micolichek Nope, pretty boring, relatively speaking. Gotta be running a stock LS1 long block with a hydraulic cam on 87 octane and making 2000 HP to be someone special now days, otherwise you're just like everyone else that's parked in the pits around you. @Dave Micolichek No, the examples you cited are known as homogenization and it's one of the reasons why all of the organizations you have used in your example have been dying a slow death over the past few decades; the classes they offer have _very_ strict rules and that require constant checks to make sure participants aren't trying to do stuff that's different so as to gain a competitive edge. The end result is that everything being the same is boring.

Back in the old days! Their was a maxda rx3 rotary out of oregon! That was running in the mid 9's . Saw him for 3 years at the seattle fall nationals nhra? Its been 40 years now but i can still hear that thing whinning up, sounding like was about to blow up? But at the top end winning.

The announcer said it don’t have the torque to spin which I agree it probably doesn’t have the torque the chevelle has. But, it was spinning the tire probably worse than the chevelle!
