I know some artists use this technique as their warmup before getting into doing any drawing. Which makes sense, it warms your hand up as well as fires your brain up analytically and creatively while working in perspective, shapes, design and just getting your mind into a state of viewing things in 3 dimensions on the paper. Now the question is, after writing it out like that, why am I not doing this before drawing? Well, simple, because I'm being lazy and now that I think about it I really need to start making this a habit! :D
