More players should play this game, it will help to improve their games. This game is a big reason the Philippine's players are so dominant in 9 ball and 10 ball, which are simply short rack versions of 15 ball rotation. I'm very glad to see Neils giving the game some exposure.

This is awesome. I played in the Philippines a few times in the last three years and didn't understand everything. This is still pretty much the only game anyone plays over there, even casual players. The reason they prefer it is typically the charge for the table is per game, and the game lasts longer so it costs less to play per hour. I am not sure but I think if you fail to hit your object ball, but you move some other balls on the shot, they get put back where they were.

50:07 You kept track of the numbers and knew when your last required ball arrived. That seems to be an added bonus skill to develop for this game. Counting! Comes up in straight pool, but not so much in 8, 9, and 10-ball. Unless it's about "how many scratches in a row has there been" :D

It's not a big deal, but very interesting with a game that squeezes more juice out of your brain. We all know how draining long periods of concentration can be, just playing 10-ball for example. Amazing with that Efren story when he didn't seem tired. His brain must be sooo wired up for pool, so it's in every cell of his body. Perhaps you can relate to that also.

Well here in Philippines, the rotation rules is, JUMPSHOT IS PROHIBITED in Rotation game UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. So You only either KICK, SWERVE, or just SPOT. Thats the reason why Filipino Pro Pool players are very proficient in kicking. Well in every pool halls and bars in here, you would rarely see people playing 9balls or 8 or 10. Majority of players in here, whether for recreation, gamblers, hustlers, whatever their purpose is, ROTATION is the most common Billard game in here.

Where I live in Western Canada , we don't count points but rather play 9 ball rules BUT you don't need to hit a rail after contact. Just lowest ball first. Any number of players can play.The 5 -10- 13- 15 are pay balls. Make a pay ball on a legal shot and ALL other players pay you. If you sink a pay ball and scratch you have to pay ALL other players. If you scratched, and 2 pay balls went in also,for example,you would have to pay all other players twice.Game is over when all the money balls are down.

Someone showed me a similar game in New Jersey back in the 80's. 15 ball rotation with multiple pay balls like that. They said the game was called "Chicago". Also it had interesting terminology, each money ball was called a "way" and total points was another "way". I guess meaning ways to win.

Another rule is if you don’t have a clear shot you don’t have to attempt. Just pick up the q and hand it over and put the object ball back in the kitchen. We do this because we have a big line keep the game continuous, the neighborhood is trying to play. There’s usually one pool hall with one good or real pool table. If you’re good you keep playing and you end up with an audience.

Re; rotation, Efren did do some matches that were heavily weighted over the past year or so. Things like 92-28, against some far inferior players. He lost a bunch actually, due to making a lot of lower balls and the oppo having to only make a couple of higher number balls. I'll try to find you some. I watch almost everything of his I can find. Oh here's something I didn't know about, going on now! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIS2ppZtgtJsg9U. This 'Sharks' site has put on a few Efren events lately including a nice Scotch Doubles 10 ball with him and Ronnie Alcano. It should be the 8 ball that must be spotted because you can't see it. But again, you have an option to try and do a kick shot to hit the ball. When you say fully snookered, do you mean they just can't hit it directly or that the lowest ball is completely eclipsed from the point of view of the cue ball?

@justincase8992

Yes. #1 front,2nd row # 9,10 or #13,14(Depends on where you are in the Philippines), 3rd row #11,15,12(#15 always in the center),4th row #7,9,10,8 or 7,13,14,8( #9,10 goes 2nd row, we always place high numbered balls in the center for protection on pocketing it on breaking. Last row is # 2,4,6,5,3. High numbered balls always in the center. Here in the Philippines we sometimes call it 61. Because the if you total all numbers from #1-#15= 120. Sa half of it is 60. To win you have to pocket a total of 61 or above to win the game. If you get both 60 you are even or a draw and nobody wins. Youre only chance not to lose the game or bet. But, in Manila, especially on money games, the first one to score an exact total of 60 ,wins. So not to lengthen the game and avoid draw. Enjoy the game. Just sharing my thoughts.

@@justincase8992 Very nice game. Just a few more explanations: 1) if you scratch with a cue ball, is it the cue ball and the ball you are shooting both spotted, or just a cue ball? 2) do you have to hit a cushion when playing safety if you see a ball you are shooting, or just can touch it like when playing a kick shot? 3) what happens if you are respoting a ball, but the spot is not available (some other ball is in its place)? Thanks 😊
@justincase8992
@justincase8992 4 жыл бұрын
@@phplaravel-vi1yeSCRATCHED CUE BALL: Case #1) if cue ball is scratched, you lose your turn to shoot. Your opponent takes his turn to shoot and can only shoot from area of the headstring line or kitchen with the cue ball. Anywhere inside that area as he wish. The object ball that was pocketed becomes invalid and be place back on the spot area or respotted for your opponent's turn and chance to pocket that object ball and run the game. Case#2) if the cue ball is scratched and the object ball was not pocketed and stayed on the playing area below the headstring or kitchen, the opponent can place the cue ball again inside the headstring or kitchen area only choose an area as he wishes to play to his advantage. Even if the object ball is near the headstring line (as long as side of the object ball does not touches the headstring line. If it touches or the side of the object ball is "over" or touches the headstring line( this is where you need a good experience decision from a referee if you play money games),then that object ball goes to the spot area. If in any case the spot area is crowded with other balls, you place the respotted object ball on the last space available at the back of the spot area. You can always place a visible line from the spot to the center of back short rail for guide purposes. ON SAFETIES: 1) different rule with 9 ball and 10 ball game. As long as you hit the object ball after a cushion is enough. No need for any ball to touch a cushion after contact. Barely hitting it softly and tying both the Cue ball and the Object ball is already a kicksafe strategy. I hope this helps. Very nice game. Enjoy "61" or Rotation. This is the only game that most Filipinos learned to play since childhood. With all types of handicapping you can ever Imagine on this beautiful game. Handicapping of 50/70, 40/80, 35/75, 102/18, Pocket any two balls, One Hand opponent.... And list goes on. Sorry for the long explanation. Lol. Cheers.

@Niels!!! There is a draw in rotation. It's a race to a score of 61. If it ends up in a draw the first person to reach the score of 60 has the chance to break the ball first in their next game. The handicapped match 50-70 etc. has no draw. The first player to reach their score wins. If you have any question about the game of rotation just ask me... I don't understand why you say jumping the ball is illegal. It is legal to jump the ball, some pool halls don't allow jumping balls to amateurs that will wreck the table or felt...
