What about the stale oil in the cooler, magnetic plug and filter check?

Very good and useful video, but sadly the noise in the back is very disturbing

He didn't check the magnetic plug?!? Or pre-fill the filter.

This would of been nice if you could of recorded it with out helicopter running in the back ground so someone could actually hear you.

You are skipping many steps. 1. you need to remove the mag plug first and inspect it for metal filings. 2. you then drain the oil warm. 3. then remove the filter and cut it open inspecting for metal filings. 4. replace filter and refill fresh oil, then run to check for leaks before replacing the cowl.

Thanks guys. Only one question, it sounded like you said to torque the tank nut at "28 inch-pounds....19 foot-pounds". ?? These are not close to the same value. I assume it's 28 inch-pounds, correct? Thanks so much for this video. Going to be doing my first oil change and getting the new filter on quickly, and not draining for a long time are very important, and glad you noted that for me, so I don't have to repurge and all that (which I've forgotten how to do :))

It's 228 in-lb or 19 ft-lbs

Just curious, why doesn’t the lead sludge drain out with the dirty oil during the oil change?
@john84513 жыл бұрын
Most of it does, but some of it will stick to the inside walls of the oil reservoir.

After the last oil change, each time the engine is started the oil pressure rises to the maximum scale of the instrument and lasts for 1 or 2 minutes. Then it returns to normal. I flew about 20 hours and the problem persists. I used semi synthetic oil MOBIL 10w-40. I live in southern Brazil for most of the year the temperature is below 20º Centigrade. Could you help me with some information of what is wrong going on? Thank you very much
@Sonex12047 жыл бұрын
Bill Fenster Hoy are suposed to use full synthetic oil.

Book recommends AeroShell Sport Plus 4
@john84513 жыл бұрын
Not only does this engine need fully synthetic oil but also a ‘motorcycle’ oil which is formulated for an engine with an integrated gearbox.
@WoutervanTiel3 жыл бұрын
@@Sonex1204 Aeroshell sport plus 4 is semi-synthetic
I would've stopped recording til the helicopter flew away, then resumed

Should'nt one do an overhaul on a Rotax at the oil change interval?
@AV8R_15 жыл бұрын
David DeChambeau you’re joking right ?
@David-pk9be5 жыл бұрын
@@AV8R_1 About the oil change interval or the Rotax TBO interval LOL. I am just not a fan of Rotax ancient technology and relatively low MTBF. Nothing personal, Rotax are 30-50 year behind modern engine tech and I steer clear of these rattle boxes.

@@David-pk9be TBO on my 912UL is 2000 hours, nothing to sneeze at.

You repeated referred to the "oil filter" as the "oil cooler." Many steps missed.
@cromgu36642 жыл бұрын
Completely wrong oil change for this type of engine please use engine maintenance manual.
