Thanks for this John!.. very informative, especially the EGT and correct loading. I have a 582 and a Hirth F-23 used in a hovercraft, the previous owner made a lot of mistakes with these engines and called them junk. I had to disagree!

Thanks a wonderful explanation about rotax engines

Great information John. I've since installed the Carb Heater kit and the fogging kit. Easily installed and they both solve the problems that I was facing. Carb icing is no longer a concern and the fogging kit is an engine saver.

Good seminar. Question can I use a small wrap around 12v DC electric carb heater on single carb 34mm mikuni barrel slide 2stroke Kawasaki ta1 440 on my Aerolite 103?

Thank you for the compliment! I have no idea if you heater idea would be effective. My experience is with Bing carburetors.

Thanks for the lecture! Just one comment on the compression test: I do not think that it is necessary to open the throttles in a 2-stroke-engine, because the simple 2-stroke-engine features always "maximum cylinder filling", independent from the position of the throttles (simple 2-stroke is not quantity- but quality-controlled, comparable to a diesel-engine). Caused by the fact that the exhaust port is the last opening to close while the working cycle. (I am no repair-expert, but once compared the compression-values in a high-output-4-stroke-motorbike-engine: no difference between WOT and closed throttles; obviously the rpm is so small that even closed throttles ensure full load. Of course this can be different in other 4-stroke-engines!)

how far should the egt probe go into the manifold?
@RotacRepair Жыл бұрын
The actual temperature sensor bead is in the tip of the probe. The probe tip should be in the centre of the manifold exhaust flow. Not bottomed out.
