Nice quick fix, i like that sort :-D Some ribbons i have noticed black dots and dents where the connector pins have been pushing down on it, where there is spare ribbon length, ive cut 10 thou off the ribbon to make it seat on a fresh area. Thats often fixed very dodgy connections that didnt improve after cleaning.

I'm more of a bodger on my own equipment, just don't seat the cable fully so it contacts further out lol... Good idea on someone else's kit that needs fixing though, much more proper.

Wonderful!! Maybe I can try that if the laser lens is clean and it still won't read. I have also noticed some CDR's won't play on some units.
@12voltvids5 жыл бұрын
Yes with CDR it is brand dependent. Some brands will not play on some players. Older disks that were dark blue or green seemed to be better.

Did the cable feel at all strange when you took it off? It seems that maybe you get a "gut feeling" after having fixed so many machines. I used to get intuitive clues when I repaired software that I hadn't seen before. Just wondering.

SC-3M is the only number on it. 300 watts, it was a cheap POS. Need a better one as this one cuts in and out. Wiper is all pitted from constant overloading.Cat, couldn't tell you what breed she it. More likely an accie but I wouldn't know. Got her from a shelter, and she is mean. Think she was abused, as she just hates the kids, but she likes me. The wife and I are the only ones that can touch her. Trips to the vet are a nightmare. They have to put her out to do any exam. That adds at least 150 to every visit. 100 to sedate, and 50 to reverse the sedation, but she is a good mouser. No nice are rats around here with that cat. It is crazy as when I put on the jazz she jumps up on the back on my chair and "sings" along with the music.

Hi friend, I have a rotel of these rdv 1060, which when it connects it starts the image of the system, but does not recognize DVD or CD, what would be the problem in the optical drive? Could you give me this tip?
@rawr519195 жыл бұрын
Clean the laser lens first, then check and/or regrease the rails on the laser assembly. Should help with the problem. If that doesn't work, it'll help nail down the problem.

@12voltvids7 жыл бұрын
old64goat I had one for some music played I played on my guitar when I was 14. crazy thing is the tracks were original compositions. I had to sign an affidavit and send to KZbin as the work had never been published. it had been recorded in my neighbour's home studio. (he had been a studio musician and was my instructor when I studied music as a kid) listening to it now I don't sound half bad. couldn't play like that today if my life depended on it. 40 years of no practice will do that.
@UnkyjoesPlayhouse7 жыл бұрын
In the KZbin creator studio you have a way to download music with no copyright issues, burn these onto your CD or MP3 and use that music instead, you can also monitize your videos with that music as well, this is now what I do. Funny though I posted a video of me setting up my projection screen and I used a clip from Sharkboy and Lavagirl and never got the notice. "I should say not yet" Keep up the great vids :)
@12voltvids7 жыл бұрын
Unkyjoe's Playhouse I use musicbakery pretty much exclusively only because when I had the production company we bought a library of 10 disks for use in corporate videos and infomercials so we needed the public performance and broadcast rights. musicbakery is cleared for KZbin but fraudulent claims gets filed from time to time. I just find the Jack's music over at musicbakery is of superior quality. Great compositions and top notch musicians playing it. It was an expensive catalog. I think we paid about 2500 for 10 CDs. When my business partner died about 11 years ago I folded the company and took all the equipment and software as I paid for it. So I continue to use it on my yt videos.
@UnkyjoesPlayhouse7 жыл бұрын
I see, well thanks for the great videos, just wanted to make sure you knew about the KZbin music availability, and please don't let the trolls get you down, ignore them and do what you do best.
@12voltvids7 жыл бұрын
Yup, knew about it. Should give it a listen and see if there is anything in there that is any good. I have just been using MB stuff because I paid for it about 20 years ago, and it's all good stuff.

I watch your ads to help you out, but I don't watch the ad when I get a 5 minute ad for a 15 minute video. Can you specify the length of an add to run say 1 minute or less?
@12voltvids7 жыл бұрын
I don't specify what ads are run. That is google and they load them based on views, and personalize them to viewers, so everyone sees different ads. They should all be skipable after 4 or 5 seconds. Naturally the longer one watches the better the pay out, but as long as it is played until it can be skipped it counts. I don't even pick how many ads that are run. This is all done in the background. You will notice that typically in my ultralapse videos there is only 1, but in the tech videos there are more. That is a function on the hits. The more views a video gets the more commercial value it has, and more advertisers buy time. I make less than 1 cent per view, so it takes a lot of views to make any money at this. The money I make from videos lets me buy projects like the vacuum tube amps that I built. They were paid for with revenue generated.
@frankreiserm.s.80395 жыл бұрын
To avoid copy right problems, record a CD of various audio frequencies from your function generator and amplifier, and color bars and cross hatches from your color and crosshatch generator.
@12voltvids5 жыл бұрын
I use royalty free which shouldn't cause any matches but 3rd party claimants try to make the claim regardless and it results in disputes that always end in my favour.

@@12voltvids Back during the CRT TV days, I got a color bar generator and crosshatch generator. I copied the patterns on high-quality, a new VHS tape and CD.
@12voltvids5 жыл бұрын
@@frankreiserm.s.8039 I ran a high end video production company in addition to working at a high end repair shop, so my camera has always has a proper smpte color bar generator, so I used to make my own alignment tapes from my professional vcr's that I verified as being dead on using an alignment tape. I had a mono scope Indian head generator which used a flying spot tube. The tube was just a round green scope tube that had a raster displayed. In front of the tube was a transparancy with the monoscope pattern and a photomultiplier tube. This was all self contained in a box as it needed to be dark inside. Produced a beautiful monoscope.

I wonder how so many people get away with uploading entire videos with an entire copyrighted song as the audio track for the video but some get a strike with just a few seconds of something in the background.
@12voltvids7 жыл бұрын
Its not a strike. Strikes are serious. Get 3 and they close your account. It is a content ID match. Not the same thing. When people upload copyright content they get a match. When a match is found the video is usually allowed but the money collected goes to the copyright holder. I put up a video where I did a comparison of different vinyl pressings to a CD. I used George Benson "Breezin" as a test track. Warner immediately put a claim on it, so the majority of the advertising collected goes to WMG not to me. I knew that was going t o happen, but I needed to play more than 5 seconds to allow for A-B comparing. So that video I make squat from. My repair videos I do make money from the advertising, so it is imperative that no copyright matches are made, as I don't want my royalties for views going to another claimant. This is also why I tag my videos with my opening logo, to stop people from ripping, and reposting. Sure they can cut that out, but the original is there with my copyright intro.I don't make the kind of money that some youtubers do, and that makes it even more important that I am not sharing it with claimants.A copyright strike is on the other hand when a copyright owner files a complaint and orders the video taken down. I have never had a strike, however I did instigate one last year when I found that some of my footage that I shot for a commercial production I did in 1999 ended up in someone elses production and ended up on youtube.I uploaded my time coded content, to prove it was my footage and instigated a take down notice, and the offending video was removed. That is what a strike is, and that one is serious.
