Wow...never thought we'd see Josh singing while someone else played guitar, haha. This sounds amazing! You can't get much more simple than one singer and one guitarist, but the arrangement adds complexity while still keeping a perfectly calm vibe. Gotta have another listen!

I've thought for years that Josh is really an underrated singer. Seems he gets far more attention for all his other abilities. Yet, it's the voice that drew me in.

So great that Josh used the original lyric "until then we'll have to muddle through somehow" instead of the bowdlerized "hang a shining star upon the highest bough", a nonsensical line added years later to tone down the feeling of pain in the original verse. This very bittersweet song was written for a World War Ii audience grieving for those soldiers who would not be home for Christmas, forcing them to "muddle through somehow" until "next year." Also the original line in the song was faithful friends who "were" near to us (not "are" near to us), a whole different meaning, referring to those who were gone but who lived on in memory. The story is that Judy Garland did not want to sing this song in the movie where she introduced it, because it was so depressing and that several lines had to be changed before she agreed to sing it.

The tension in the offsetting chords and notes is beyond perfect. Josh you are truly and officially ahead of your time. Rotem, may I borrow a finger or two, and the space...well what can I say?

the sparse arrangement (guitar & voice) & chord progression sets the mood perfectly for sitting at a window watching snow gently fall. the only thing that would make that more perfect is if we actually had snow falling in ~80 degree Texas! hope it's a winter wonderland wherever all of you are! thx Rotem for helping me get into the Christmas spirit!

Wow... that was some collaboration 😊... and the result seemed excellent to me: Josh Turner always struck me as a top notch (really fine, accomplished and talented...) musician. Coming from a more conventional (classical, pop/rock, country...) background, however, while watching the video I just wondered if you couldn't be a little bit intimidating, Rotem, with your weird gigantic guitar and unusual musical skills... (frankly excessive musical skills... 😊). I hope not and to see more from the both of you. Thanks for the PDF 😊.
