My brother-in-law gave me a shemagh for Christmas and I use it on sunny days to protect my skin. It also seems to keep me cooler and on very hot days it captures my body moisture, then when the wind blows it cools me off. I love it!

I bought the solid black version to help keep my head and face warm during artic temperatures. It did it's job well; I was outside for hours in the cold and it kept my face, nose, and lungs from freezing. However, when I came home, I found out that the dye from the scarf started running on my face. I gently handwashed it in the sink with a little detergent and warm water and allowing it to drip dry / air dry. I got most of the dye to run out on the first try; I will continue using it. (Anybody else considering using/purchasing the product, I would recommend gently handwashing the Shemagh by itself with a small amount of light detergent in cold or slightly warm water. Partially because the threads are delicate, but especially if there is dye running out of the fabric. I would also not recommend attempting to launder or dry via machine or with other clothing or fabrics.) Overall, I am still satisfied with the product.

Hi there! I'm happy to hear you are still satisfied with this gear despite the dye running. I will be sure to communicate this information to the right team, thank you for your review!

I use it in the Minnesota winters so I can still feel my face at the end of the day. Also, probably the best/most methods to wear it I've ever seen is from this German guy. Sacki-Survival 33 - Shemagh binden / Wrap a shemagh

When Palestine was a British colony, WWII, some of the military officers like Lawrence of Arabia began to adopt them. To Arabs they are Kufíyah. (K-fee-a). Worn since pre Muslim times all over the Middle East.

What do you call it 'tactical'? What does that actually mean? They're all a rectangle piece of cloth.

I have two of these rothco shemaghs. One is very nice, woven well and the fabric is pretty thick, the other is very thin, woven like crap, and it isn't even square, it's cut way crooked. Terrible quality control.
