D Grill... I own several grills and do a lot of cooking however, I have not tried my rotisserie on my Genesis yet. I stumbled across your video while doing a little rotisserie research. Since you we so kind as to share your experience, I would like to offer a couple of words of encouragement and advise. Perhaps by now, you have found this out on your own, but just in case..... I always keep an extra canister of propane in a storage unit next to my grill, just in case I run out. (actually I have two because I also have an outdoor propane heater). But that is not the tip... It has been my experience that securely trussing meat (particularly fowl) provides a more even and speedier cook. By pulling the legs and wings closer into the body of the bird, heat is more evenly distributed throughout the bird. And finally, an instant thermometer works a bit better than the IGrill ones but they are great for really long cooks. Thanks for all you do..

Hi"D", Pretty much per your video, I just put a single 6lb chicken on my Weber G-II E-335 grill. I use a 10" aluminum disposable drip pan, from the market, on top of the triangular bars and set the outer burners between 1/2 and 3/4 symbols so heat gets to 370 degrees. Mine is a natural gas setup, so butane settings may be different to get to 370 degrees. I truss the chicken very securely so legs don't drag on the pan. Cooking is done in 2 hours, checking final temp with my Thermoworks Thermapen, great thermometer. Love rotisseried chicken.

Received my rotisserie kit yesterday and will be installing it today and taking her for a "spin." Thank you for sharing your experience, as it gives me a better idea of how to get everything prepped for the cook. I have a little analog oven thermometer that I plan to place inside to see how accurate the one on the lid is.

I'm so glad you did this video. I've been a subscriber for about a year. I have been contemplating getting the rotisserie attachment for my G2-E410. After watching this, I'm still thinking about it. But two things stand out for me. One is the loss of shelf space on the left side of the grill. And the higher amount of labor to get this cook going. Lastly, I really rely on the iGrill3 meat probes for telling me when the cook is done. P.S. if you want a cleaner look for the ambient probe cable, I ran mine underneath the left side of the right shelf and then brought it up from underneath in the front to plug it in. Keeps it completely off the shelf. Thanks for your channel. Don't let KZbin constraints keep you from doing these.

Glad to help. You can see from my Overcooked ribs video, not having iGrill 3 always checking the meat has some real drawbacks 😅 . Getting the rotisserie "right" can be a little tricky at times, but it gets easier the more I use it. Thanks for the tip with the iGrill wire. And for the encouragement. Come February 20th, the money stops here unless nearly 100 subscribers show up. I plan to continue the channel. I think more subs would come faster if it were not still winter. Great time to make a deadline 🤔.

Looks good Darnel! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's run out of gas while cooking lol. For rotisserie cooking my smaller E-210 is probably too small to do two chickens at one time but Weber should be including two sets of forks or at the very least offer additional sets to purchase separately.

I wonder why not? Considering the way the whole chicken moves about while rotating the extra forks should be a benefit. Clearly the motor is sufficiently strong enough to handle them both. Forks or not those chickens sure did look good.

Tips: Use big long drip pan per DGrill. Weber grill doesn't have much clearance even with grills removed. Select small chickens, larger ones may drag on drip pan despite trussing them. Using four spit forks will work but center forks are not essential.

D Grill, love your videos, hope you get the target subscribers, I am already one. Since you have been doing the rotisserie videos, I thought that was a great idea, but here in England they seem to be around £180 (about $250), but the price might come down in the spring. Your chicken looked good, but the rotisserie does seem a bit fiddly esp compared to a simple beer can method, is it much better? Again good luck with the subscribers

+steven martin Thank You for your support! Sorry to hear Weber wants so much for a rotisserie from you. That's almost 3x the price I paid, $90 (£64). 😮 I have never done the beer can menthol. I would probably use lemon lime soda if I did. But check this out and let me know your thoughts on it: amazingribs.com/tested-recipes/chicken-recipes/debunking-beer-can-chicken-waste-good-beer-inferior-cooking-technique

I am glad you posted this video. I had similar problem to you. I did a roto chicken on my Genesis II E210 (2 burner) and it took frigin' 3 hours. It should only really take about 90 minutes. I think in my case I made 2 errors: I put water in the drip pan to start and like you i used an ambient probe thermometer at the back of the grill instead of using the lid thermometer. The lid red about 100 degrees cooler than my probe! I am going to try again this week hopefully and I will use the lid and try for 375 degrees. I used to have a Ronco roto and it took only 90 minutes and they came out great. We should be able to do the same on the Weber.

OK I did another roto chicken on my Gen II e210. This time just over 90 minutes. I keep the temp at 375 by the lid thermometer and no water in the pan. Just right!

Thanks for this. I am thinking that gas grilles might not be the best way to rotisserie cook something. At least not on this one, the rotisserie is just to low down. I do love the grill though. I think a charcoal grill might work better.

Glad I have natural gas instead of propane. Connecting my new Weber with quick disconnect hose required installing a different shutoff valve and a bunch of parts to finally connect to the female quick disconnect and connect to the male disconnect on the Weber hose. Truss them birds securely. Another couple of rotisserie forks and careful string work would help with two chickens.

You're missing the point. It's not about speed. The rotisserie let's the chicken slow roast in its own juices. Which makes for great tasting meat 😋.

MONEY, Darnell I was number 800......... That rotisserie does not look that great The bird looks burnt on the wings.. What do you think? Over 2 hrs is a long time to run propane.. Love your videos though Big D
@DGrill
@DGrill 6 жыл бұрын
+Blewzmann Thank You for getting the subscriber count to 800 😎 . The cook too so long, because I started out relying on the iGrill 3 ambient probe temp and it was way off. I will need to use the hood temp and just consider the ambient probe temp reads way too high. When its positioned vertically, with the warming rack down. Also, I should have run all 3 burners from the start, to get a more even cook with 2 chickens. Having 2 chickens with just the outside burners running, caused an uneven cook. Then i turned on that middle burner later. Using just the 2 outside burners may have been good with just 1 chicken. But more cooks will come and techniques improved I enjoy brining everyone along for the ride. Maybe help someone else and others can offer me feedback 👍🏿 .
@DGrill
@DGrill 6 жыл бұрын
+Blewzmann +D Grill Also, I am thinking, the large drip pan is deflecting heat. So I may run all 3 burners every time I use the rotisserie. Got another rotisserie cook coming, Lord willing I will do it this week. And I hope for good results.
