You can directly make animations in unity without rotoscoping in any other program. In a video I saw he animated in 3d and applied some filter which made it look 2d

The worst part about rotoscoping is the lack of impact in my opinion. The only thing I've seen that is rotoscoped and contains strong impact is Apollo Gauntlet

I guess since Rotoscoping was generally used for Dance moves (when it first blew up at least to achieve smooth movements), it's made for bouncy, oldish cartoons such as Betty boop.

@@woho Wait so you don't use seperate software for rotoscoping? I've always wanted to try it but thought I had to pay for a seperate expensive program. Sweet! Opentoonz is free, too.

I still used another tool to separate the original video into a jpg-sequence. These jpgs I imported in OpenToonz for rotoscoping. OpenToonz should accept video files as well but it didn't work for me, so I used jpgs.

I used Adobe Media Encoder. But there are even Websites where you can convert videos in jpgs online. Try to google "convert videos in jpg online"
