Sure, i struggle with making animations and with the progress of it but i still maki progress and I learned by that, the more i do the better I'll get. It's sounds cliche but it's works like magic. You can do something like this, challenge yourself to animate for 1,000 hours just like me. I'm making Livestreams of my journey. It will make you want to watch tutorials of how to animate and how to do it in the smart way, it will make you understand it much better. It might be hard to start and overwhelming but automatically your mind will get better at this, automatically you'll want to do it more, understand better, even if your animation sucks, it makes you better. The key is just do it and try to learn how to do it better in the next time. Yesterday i tried to make something and i failed really hard because i saw I'm still in the beginner level and it made me kinda depressed but after that day (today) I felt motivated again with a cleaner mind. It's just like gym. The muscle grow when you take breaks.in animation You try and try and nothing working and the growth happens when you take breaks. I can send you my tutorials playlist that can help you as well. Or even watch my Livestreams.
Rotoscoping it's the easiest and hardest thing to do if you want to start practicing. What i did in this video is simply filming my hand, and then i just traced over it and every frame took me around 6 minutes so it took quite a while but in the end, it looked smooth as heck because with tracing a real footage it will always look really smooth. In general, tracing and copying it's one of the best ways to learn animation and drawing.
