Rotten Eggs Smell in your Car 😝

If your car smells like rotten eggs and your research online says it's the catalytic converter before you spend the money on that, check your battery... if it goes bad that's what that acid from the battery smells like. ROTTEN EGGS!!! 😝

I noticed my car was hard to start also and I read one comment somewhere else saying it can be leaky acid, plus a while ago the mechanics said my battery would need to be changed soon but I never thought it could be the reason I thought converter like you did. But a lot of videos I saw was saying if you smell eggs by the exhaust while my smell was coming from the engine around the battery. Thanks man really helped me out !!

Thank you! Ford was about to charge me 1000+ for a new cat convertor. This is the only info I have found on a battery causing that smell. Getting the battery changed now, hoping the smell will stop. 🤞🤞

Thanks for sharing. I had today that I couldn’t open my car with the remote once it was finally open and a friend gave me a boost I felt a terrible smell from rotten eggs. Then I noticed that some acid is leaking from my battery. Thanks again for sharing. Gonna have my battery replaced soon.

This happened yesterday to my BMW 328i. The car was not used for the last months due to covid lockdown. I needed to jump start it to get it going, which I just assumed was from leaving it sitting for a long time. But then all the electrics started going haywire - no cruise control, no indicators, speedo went to zero, then jumped back up again, indicator lights would not work, warning lights randomly displaying. The smell was so strong my wife and I started feeling ill. Initially I thought catalytic converter issues, but the smell was coming from the back of the car. This BMW has the battery in the back inside the fender. The battery was so hot that you could feel the heat through the body panel. When I opened the trunk I could tell the battery fluid had boiled off because there was condensation everywhere. The smell was really awful with the trunk open and the battery exposed. The battery was too hot to touch. This can be dangerous - a battery that hot could possibly start a fire, so I'm getting the car towed to the repair shop and see what sort of damage it caused...

I went to Walmart and they said its bad /failed and under voltage.And they are also bit confused why dashboard is not showing up any indication of bad battery . They are also not aware how come I can start the car .If the smell is coming from battery, I must be able to smell it strong after opening the hood but no such smell . But I am getting bad smell while I am inside of the car . They said that it seems battery is swollen and may leak internally but walmart technician looks not sure the reason of the bad smell. I will go to Walmart/Costco tomorrow morning to change the battery(24F AGM )

Having the same issue with my Volvo XC60 T6. Was getting low battery light at random for a week then the smellY smoke started coming from under the battery. Hope It is the battery and not the cat converter. Going in the shop tomorrow.

I had the same problem in my BMW. The battery overheated because the repair shop mistakenly installed a charge controller that is 28 volts instead of the recomended 14 volts.

Wow, just watched your video an I had been having problems with a check engine light and everybody had an opinion. No one suggested battery was the reason for rough running after start up or error code or the bad smell. Changed the battery and everything was fine after that.

I had this terrible egg smell yesterday and I know a bit about cars and it’s usually the catalyst converter so I was not happy driving about. Then I went to clean the screen again and Jesus Christ couldn’t breath. Turns out it’s my washer bottle. I’ve had to bleach it and flush it out no end of times. Hope it’s gone. Never been so happy haha. I know the. Car is ok and to replace my converter it’s 650 just for the part

@@maxmckerron yeah it’s something to do with cheap washer fluid and or the blue in colour one. I get cherry 🍒 and use it very strong. Not had it back since. You will be fine 👍🏻
