“As we continue to seek answers regarding Nancy’s disappearance, we need all the help, support, and awareness we can get. To that end, we desperately ask that you do the following:
1. Continue sharing and posting our updates to social media.
2. Call or email your local, state, and federal elected officials to request that they take action regarding this case. We’ve included a template blurb you can use below.
3. Connect us to or tag any media contacts you may know that will help us get the word out.
You can find your elected officials here: www.usa.gov/elected-officials

“Hello, my name is [insert name], and I’m a constituent from [state/district]. I’m calling because I’d like to request that you ensure urgent action is taken regarding the recent disappearance of Nancy Ng, a U.S. Citizen who went missing in Guatemala.
The Ng Family currently lacks information about the exact circumstances and location of their daughter/sister’s disappearance, due to the unwillingness of key witnesses to step forward and provide a witness report.
I respectfully urge you to ensure the appropriate U.S. authorities, including the FBI and Department of State, conduct a proper and thorough investigation so that the family can find closure, and if the truth sheds light on it, justice.
Thank you for your consideration and assistance in this matter.”

UPDATE: Two persons of interest have been identified by the search team, Black Wolf Helicopters, on behalf of the Ng family and legal council: 1. Eduardo (Eddy) Rimada: the organizer of the “Be the Change” retreat that took place between the 14th and 20th of October 2023. 2. Christina Marie Blazek: the witness who was with Nancy on the water at the time of her disappearance and a licensed attorney and Deputy Public Defender at the Law Offices of the Public Defender, San Bernardino County. Blazek, the only witness and allegedly the last to see Nancy alive, has just now broken her silence through her attorney, G. Christopher Gardner. Gardner released a statement to the media sharing Blazek’s account of what allegedly happened to Nancy: "My client tried to save her sister. She’s not missing, she drowned," Gardner said. According to FOX News he also stated: “My client has now become a 100% absolute victim.” Ng’s family was told by Rimada that Blazek was too traumatized to speak to them, also according to FOX News. Nicky Ng responded to these new developments in an interview with the media, reportedly saying, “We’re incredibly baffled that four weeks later she’s speaking out but through an attorney," she said. "If Nancy really drowned and is in the water, time is of the essence."

So these 11 people that were with Nancy on this yoga retreat inexplicably come home early from their vacation, then don’t report Nancy missing until 24 hours after they’ve landed in the US, and most of them are refusing to speak to the police/authorities? Yeah, 100% foul play. I hope the truth comes out and whoever is responsible for Nancy going missing is held accountable. Prayers for her and her family.

I’m a Latin who lives in Latin America, and maybe this can help (sorry for my bad English, it’s not my first language): Here at some spirituals retirements, people offer illegal substances like Ayahuasca and other “natural” stuff that cause hallucinations, etc... Maybe, some of the 11 took something illegal and the place of retirement threat them about it. Probably All of them are covering because of the ilegal substance/practices of the place. Maybe they all could be in problems if someone talk, because of the illegal “natural” substances. This is very common. They haves to investigate if the place offers ayahuasca or things like that. Another reason could be that they entered unintentionally to a “narco” property. Something happened with the girl and the other 11 run out the country. Unfortunately, This happens all the time, even with locals. A lot of people haves died in this places because of: suicide, accidents or murdered. Sometimes those “spiritual substance” cause hallucinations and inability. And there are cases where they gave it to the person without telling them (they put the substances in breakfast, food, drinks without consent) so they scam people telling them that they are just being able to trasmute or things like that, because of the yoga. Those 11 should take a drug test.

GUATEMALAN HERE. I just want to point a few things: 1. It’s a well known fact that these kind of retreats, especially the ones that are run by foreigners, run heavily on drugs (they, of course, don’t disclose it). 2. Overall the lake it’s pretty safe to swim in the shallow parts. That being said, there are parts where there is Algae Blooms and Brown Algae and you can get easily trapped in and drown if you’re not careful. 3. There is a natural phenomenon called Xocomil. It is a strong wind current that forms as warm winds from the pacific ocean traverse the mountains; it can get so strong that it prevents boats from navigating the lake during certain times of the day. So kayaking during these hours is a big no no. I honestly think there was foul play mixed with one of the 3 points I just mentioned…I truly hope justice is served and her family can get some type of closure. Lake Atitlán is one of the most beautiful and safest places in Guatemala so it’s so sad to seeing this happened here.

Do they do Ayahuasca in those retreats? Because my thinking is, if they do, complications can arise, people (the rest of the group) in panic do dumb stuff and being a suspect of a crime in a country other than your own could potentially make some people go home early. I hope I am wrong and she is safe.

I can attest to this. I lost my 21 year old Son on 10/17/22, then 7 weeks later on 12/8/22 I lost my older Sister. The mornings are the hardest, because there's this brief moment where everything is "normal." Then your head and your heart remember, and the grieving starts all over again. And I HATE people saying I'm strong. It's not a choice.. Your heart keeps beating, and your lungs continue to draw breath, all without your consent. Talking about our loved ones is ALWAYS welcomed, it doesn't bring more grief and pain-we feel it every second of every day no matter what. The pain comes when people stop mentioning their names and their memories of our loved ones. So much love to this family, I am so very sorry 😢

You described this so perfectly. I lost my mom unexpectedly way before her time 2/5/2019 and my grandmother who was a second mom to me a year and one month later on 3/5/2020 from her 5th type of cancer she had in her lifetime. She beat and survived 4 other types (breast, kidney, 2 types of skin cancer), she went through 2 kidney transplants and in the end her 5th type of cancer, bladder killed her 2 months after being diagnosed. I had no relationship with my father most of my life including now so my mom and gram were my everything and my best friends. I'm 41 and I literally have no friends due too severe social anxiety and agoraphobia. Losing my mom and gram devastated me and I haven't been able to figure out how to live wince. I just go through the motions because I have to. I see other people that have lost loved ones and it seems like they're able to grieve, move on and thrive and I just don't understand it. For me it still feels like it just happened with both of them. My moms death though is the hardest for me. We had slight warning that my gram wouldn't be here long so I got the chance to do a lot of the things I wanted to before she was gone and was able to prepare as much as possible. With my mom, there was no warning. She was only 54 and her death shouldn't have happened. I will say though that I couldn't imagine the torment of not knowing where your loved one is and not knowing whether they're alive or not. That would be torture. My heart hurts for this family and I'm so sorry for your loss as well. Just take it one day at a time, its all we can do. ❤

The group did inform the authorities, but honestly, I believe it was the local officials who mishandled the situation by not documenting and following up properly. Such incidents are rare in the area, and Nancy seems to be the first American to drown in the lake. The lawyer's statement appears plausible. My family from the area mentioned that the waters can be/get rough, and there have been other cases of locals drowning. I suspect that during the retreat, the group might have used psychedelics or other substances, possibly even before venturing into the waters. This could be why they left promptly after notifying the officials - to avoid trouble with Guatemalan authorities regarding substance use. It may also explain the allegations of people going through Nancy's belongings, ensuring there was no evidence of substance use. This hesitancy from the group and the delayed statement from the lawyer might be due to the need to cleanse their systems. I mention this considering the time the lawyer took to issue a statement, coupled with the likely trauma from the rapid sequence of events. I pray they locate Nancy soon. So that the family can at least verify and somewhat get some closure on as to what happened to Nancy. If what the lawyer really happened then it shouldn't be much longer before she is found and her statement is then proven true. @@rationalskeptic1

@koul3709 it is complicated, but male 'yoga masters' target young, vulnerable women and can ensnare them in unhealthy relationships. In the case I refer to, the woman had been ensnared for years, and it ended in what seems to be a series of attempts on her own life, that ended horrifically. But, there is speculation that she was being stalked.

The only theory that makes sense to me is that psychedelics were a big part of this yoga retreat. This would explain Nancy's impulsive decision to swim and suddenly disappear beneath the surface as it's been established that she was a competent swimmer. It further explains her "ransacked" room as the group made sure there was no evidence of illegal substances left before before they bolted for the airport. And yes, it totally explains the non-cooperation and subsequent lawyering up. Any normal tragic drowning with a distraught family seeking information would result in an outpouring of help and information.

Even if Nancy took any kind of drug, it doesn’t explain why the others are silent on the case. They way they might’ve cleaned out her room, why couldn’t they get rid of their own drug traces too and report it as a drowning? I think they were directly or indirectly involved in her death somehow, like they pushed drugs into her, roofied her, spiked her stuff. It is possible that the reason her body can’t be found is because they got rid of it to hide evidence?

I’m a Latin who lives in Latin America, and maybe this can help (sorry for my bad English, it’s not my first language): Here at some spirituals retirements, people offer illegal substances like Ayahuasca and other “natural” stuff that cause hallucinations, etc... Maybe, some of the 11 took something illegal and the place of retirement threat them about it. Probably All of them are covering because of the ilegal substance/practices of the place. Maybe they all could be in problems if someone talk, because of the illegal “natural” substances. This is very common. The haves to investigate if the place offers ayahuasca or things like that. Another reason could be that they entered unintentionally to a “narco” property. Something happened with the girl and the other 11 run out the country.

The Guetamalan police believes she drowned and the woman that returned with Nancy's kayak, and was seen paddling close to her at one point, has said Nancy went to swim and drowned as the current was strong and got pulled under and claims to have reported it to the local police.

So the police here is known to be corrupt, and while they may have looked for Nancy, it's sad that there is a very high chance they were paid to stay silent about her, just as any other witness. I have experienced corruption first-hand, and don't get me wrong, Guatemala is a beautiful country, but it's also very dangerous one, as even the cops can rob you. I have an uncle who was convicted for firearm posession, after he meet with a friend who was carrying drugs and a firearm (he didn't know he was carrying that stuff), the police took him as an accomplice, and my uncle didn't even have a gun on him, but they still charged him, and added a bunch of crimes to his record. After that they called my family and asked for money, or else they would treat him like sh-t in preventive prission, they didn't even give him a chance to call his family, and skipped so many things before just throwing him in there. In the end we got him back after paying 5k to a lawyer who knew the jury, and managed to bribe them to set my uncle free. Nancy won't be found unless they keep paying the rescue team, the lawyers, and more people join the search party, so if any of you can either help with money or join the rescue party, it will do wonders for the case.

Unless there are probable causes that can pin any of the witnesses to be a potential suspect, they're not obligated to talk or share anything with law enforcement right now. I'm not saying this to defend those people, just telling you how the real work is. I was raised on the water & helped my Aunt run teams of search & rescue and search & recovery dogs for 10 years until she semi-retired to Florida. I'm finding it very hard to believe that not only was Nancy never found, but neither was her kayak. Not even her paddle? If she drowned her body would've resurfaced for a time. Very rarely is just a drowning victim who just tipped out of a boat caught on something below surface that prevents them from resurfacing as the natural process takes it's course. Plus it is a lake, not a body of water with a current to carry all evidence of her supposed accident to the ocean. Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay & helping with some cases of drowning before or after a hurricane, we still found them & their boat/canoe/kayak/paddle board & paddles/oars. Often times a few miles apart but we found them. Given the size of this lake & the massive outpouring of love & support her family has received to search for her, I'm finding it extremely difficult to believe whatever happened to her ended in the water. Just based on that alone. Once you add in how quickly the ENTIRE group who were out there with her the day she went missing decided to cut their vacation to a yoga retreat in paradise short. I'm going to contact a few friends who travel to resorts like this yearly & have them share her missing poster, go fund me & this video, if possible, in their group chats. Something isn't right here, someone, somewhere has to know something. And they need to come forward for her family.

I've spent so much time at that lake, we know who supposedly was the "yoga teacher" holding the retreat. my friend DM him and he blocked us. he's deleted everything on his IG about those days. something's definitely very messed up about this💔 edit: another thing to consider about the lake is that people drown quite often, the weather can change drastically in a minute when you're in the water, one minute it's sunny and chill and the next it's super windy, the water gets choppy super fast and it's hard to make your way back to shore in a kayak/SUP and if it starts raining is worse. also sometimes bodies don't resurface because the lake it's actually really really deep and around that area of santa cruz there's huge underwater cliffs (or whatever they're called) if i remember correctly from diving so it gets really deep really close to the shore and what i was explained by professional divers is that if bodies sink to a certain depth they never resurface because of the pressure. but don't quote me on any of that because that's just what master divers explained to me. also people have gotten lost in the mountains and never came back (depending on the area) but those mountains are endless.

my step-sister lost her husband recently here in GT in Atitlan due to a rip-tide sucking him in, it's scary to see just how many cases happen there in so many ways Edit just to add on: People saying "that sounds scary" as a local I can't blame them, Atitlan is absolutely a gorgeous place, as are a lot of tourist spots in Guatemala, but, anywhere outside of those heavily monitored tourist spots is a hotbed for gang activity. I can only hope the best for Nancy, sending prayers and hoping she'll be found alive and safe.

2 things that I’m trying to figure out 1. I understand that “drowning” is severely tragic. However, it doesn’t necessarily get so much intensive media coverage. The media would only say what happened, extend their apologies and move on. Also with international cases (especially the ones that Steph has covered previously), most of the time, the local govts will try to cover up incidents because they do to not want to spread a bad image. The pattern I’ve picked up is that, the local govts will either cover things up, and/or be partially or fully uncooperative with other govts. Given this and knowing how corrupt the Guatemalan govt is and the problematic political state (my ancestors are from there) I’m not fully understanding why the Guatemalan authorities have been very collaborative with the American FBI and why they are so invested with an alleged “drowning accident”. For both of these organizations and the media to be fully invested into this case, I can’t help but think that there is much more to this story than they are willing to say. 2. When the 11 people left the hotel and the fled the country after Nancy was not there, what has been of her personal belongings? I’m not sure if Nancy stayed with them in the same hotel property/resort but what happened to her luggage, her suitcase and personal stuff when Nancy was no longer there? Does the family have it and if not, what happened to it, who took it and where are her belongings? I just hope that Nancy is safe and well, I pray for her safety and for comfort for her family. Amen, all the love and support to Nikki, Jonathan and her parents 🤍

In this instance it is in Guatemala’s best interest to figure out exactly what happened. She was in a safe, tourist filled area. Last spotted in the water. Naturally the search will begin in the same body of water. This isn’t bad PR for them. Media attention is huge because nobody at the retreat spoke to police and only thought to report her missing 24 hours later. It’s extremely suspicious.

I lived in Guatemala for 4.5 years and have been to this lake many times. It's really pretty safe. That whole area around the lake is probably about 50% foreigners and so everyone knows English there. Each town on the lake has its own vibe, and some are more party towns etc, one or two are even druggie villages, but violent crime seems to be extremely rare. And contrary to what you might think, even though murders and kidnappings happen in Guatemala often, this area isn't like that, and it's EXTREMELY rare against foreigners. You just stand out a little too much, you're too noticeable, so crime against you as a foreigner poses a bigger risk for perpetrators, and there seems to be a fear of the American government coming after you (whereas that fear is sometimes lacking in terms of consequences from guatemalan authorities). Kidnapping doesn't seem likely, unfortunately, as a result, because it would pose such a risk with the amount of attention it has drawn, as she's an American, and that could have been predicted. This seems to be very well known in Guatemala, by everyone, and there seems to be a respect/fear of the American government and consequences. This place and these villages are generally extremely safe, walking alone, as a woman, hiking, at night, whatever. I would gladly do that there and not where I live in the US. It seems most likely that there truly was an accident, but the lack of cooperation by those involved is inexcusable Another note: I wouldn't necessarily trust that the Guatemalan police reports are accurate about anything. When things were reported, what was reported, etc. Take it with a grain of salt

@arelygalicialopez60 glad to hear that. I was worried my comment might be a little offensive, as I said to not necessarily trust the police reports. I LOVE the country and people of Guatemala. It is a wonderful place, and I hope this doesn't deter people from going and spending time there in a respectful way. Unfortunately, resources can be lacking sometimes in some areas, like policing. It doesn't mean people don't care. But even after this story, I see NO REASON for foreigners to stay away from Guatemala. The people of Guatemala have a culture of being extremely respectful, accommodating, and welcoming to foreigners (even though that's not always returned). It is a safe and wonderful place to visit and even live, and I hope people realize that none of the issues in this case have ANYTHING to do with the country or people. One of the reasons this case is so big is because things like this simply don't happen there. There are massive amounts of people visiting Guatemala every year, and you simply don't hear stories of their personal safety being threatened the way you do about México and other places (I love México, too, btw, but it's sadly becoming more common). Guatemala remains a wonderful place to visit, and this lake does, too. I hope people see that

I wonder if perhaps KZbinrs can be held accountable for spreading false stories? "The couple said that a group of 10 people, including Ms Ng, left with kayaks on 19 October." There's no 12 people according to legit news. "Their parents got a call from the organizer of the yoga retreat that same day saying Ng was gone." And that's not 24 hours either... The story is very different in the news compared to this video, because why would a bunch of people be held accountable for a stranger drowning? "“When the group returned, there were only eight among them, but we could see in the distance, a distance of about 100 yards, two single kayaks,” Mr Beal Lee said, who he believed to be Ms Ng and another woman."

This is too sad. I grew up in Guatemala. My parents got married in lake Atitlan... I just hope this has a happy ending, somehow. If this happened to me this is what I would do: bribe everyone. Unfortunately, if someone knows something they won't share it without insentive. I'm talking about the hotel staff, the locals, the granny at the market. I would put up a bulletin with a reward. Of course, a lot of vultures will try to get advantage, the locals probably already know that the family has spent a lot of money on the search and rescue, so they will expect them to be "rich". If possible I would get someone local, someone with a good reputation to go around and ask questions. Also. I was wondering if Nancy knew any spanish. If she is as social as she seems, it's very probable that local people would remembered her. But perhaps if would be even more valuable to ask about the other guests, or the yoga company. Again, if it was me, I would go to the town and stick around, get to know people and listen in. My dad used to work as a language teacher. He would tell me stories of taking foreigners to turist places, such as lake atitlan. From what I gather, it is always the locals that know all the dirt. They just won't get involved because it's none of their business. There is probably someone that knows something but is afraid of getting into trouble or doesn't feel it has anything to do with them. Money is the only way to change their minds... Well, you could also try to get in touch with the local church. The more personally you connect with people the more they will care. Sorry if this is too cinical. I grew up as a foreigner in Guatemala, so I experienced some of that while young. It's a beautiful country with amazing poeple, but everything has flaws. I hope Nancy comes home soon. P.S. Don't give any money to the cops. It would be a waste of money!!!

This is def true, there's a journalistic podcast called "lost in Panama" about the famous case of two girls who visited Panama and it remains unsolved, but the journalists went to the town they disappeared in and interviewed locals and they had so much information on suspects + what they heard actually happened to the girls (a witness who saw the girls with gang members the night they disappeared was found dead only two days after they went missing for example) which was ignored or never shared with authorities for fear of persecution from the local gang. They basically solved the case by just asking locals even if they could not investigate further to find forensic evidence since they were not working with the authorities. The "minding your own business" is a huge part of why so much information does not reach the families or authorities until years later when they feel less scared of coming forward.
